Currently on Vodaphone and credit expires (stolen) every month. Plus shitty reception in places.
Any out there where the credit does not expire monthly?

Telstra does prepaid that won't expire for a whole year.
However, you'd be better off getting a plan.
(I'm with Telstra)
For $49 each month (bringing my own phone for a contract) I get unlimited texts to anyone in Australia. Along with $550 calls and 2GB of Data.
It's part of their new Freedom Connect scheme... Telstra also has good reception. Where my boyfriend get's nothing on his Vodaphone- I have full service![]()
Check out their website for more info as they have varying plans and a range of smart phones to choose from.
However, I'm sure other providers have similar deals- but I've only ever been with Telstra.
If your internet is with iiNet you can get a $10, $20 or $40 prepaid account bundled with it. Incrementally bigger and bigger data and text etc.
Optus resold. ie, uses the Optus network. Mobile Plans - Mobile SIM Cards - Mobile Phone Plans - iiNet Australia and coverage maps are available there too.
Pretty darn cheap, really.

Internets are hard eh bro?
Get a cheap Telstra plan.

Yeah sorry- forgot to include that. You can get the higher end smart phones on this plan ($49) with an additional cost of a few dollars each month.
For Christmas, I was given a HTC wildfire S and the $49 freedom connect plan. I was originally on a $30 month plan with no benefits and went over it every month (along with a brick phone I've had for 6 years)
My two sisters use Telstra prepaid- they receive no additional "freebies" that the new freedom plan provides.
Added bonus with Telstra is a good reception/service pretty much anywhere you go normally. I've only ever had a few blank spots but that was due to a shit phone.
Woolworths Sim
They expire every 45 days.
They did a deal pre christmas $2 sim + $29 recharge for 1/2 price. The expiry was 12 months ago well most people bought eight at a time. I only use mine as a wireless hotspot as they give you 5gb as well.

every single phone provider has pre-paid plans which don't expire monthly.
obviously, you get longer credit validity but it also means more expensive calls.
the fact you're complaining about vodafone reception suggests that maybe you spend time out of the city? In that case IMHO you have no options, you have to go with Telstra. Telstra is the only one worth considering if you are out of the city. Optus country coverage is improving hugely but is still nowhere near Telstra's.

Improved "coverage" != improved "network".
Bottom line, if you need a phone that just works with minimal fuss, you have roughly zero options outside of Telstra.
It might not be 'fair', but 'tis what 'tis.
If you're with TPG you can get on a $1 plan with 150MB data (Optus).
No huge "monopoly money" credit, you just pay for what you use at actual real money rates, which are fairly good.
My bill is ~$5 /m & my data in Perth is often faster then my g/fs telstra phone.
But it depends what usage you have really.

if i were you Gippo, (assuming you're happy with Optus coverage) I would go with "Amaysim" amaysim SIM card - One pure SIM with simple, low mobile rates - amaysim SIM card
choose their "AS YOU GO" pre-paid offer.
Calls are a flat 15 cents per minute.
SMS are 12 cents.
No "cap" arrangements or anything, you just pay for what you use.
You add money onto your account by buying recharge vouchers (or credit card) in values of 15,20,30,50 or 100 bucks. The credit lasts 90 days. If you recharge before the 90 days, any remaining balance rolls over to the next period of 90 days.
you can also buy data packs if you want to use the net.
that's what i've got my mum on. She almost never uses her mobile, so i generally chuck $15 on it and that covers her for between 2 and 3 months.
