It's about time we moved on from the C2S thread.

I'm going to do this one next week for my tempo run. Anyone else interested? How often do you get to run on a track?

TIME TO HIT THE TRACK!

The West Australian Marathon Club's only track race, the 2011 JOHN GILMOUR 10KM will be held on Friday night 4 November.


WHERE: Ern Clark Athletic Centre,Coker Park, Wharf Street, Cannington.

TIME: There will be two races;

Runners over 40 minutes - race starts 6.00pm.

Runners sub 40 minutes - race starts 7.15pm.

ENTRY: Entry for this race is on the day. Please arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the event you are entering.

Entry for WAMC members is $3.00; non-members is $10.00

The recent book on John Gilmour 'Lasting the Distance: Memoirs of John Gilmour - World Champion Runner' by P.D. Collier will be available for sale. For more information see http://hesperianpres..._distance.html.

A 'Sausage Sizzle' will be provided by Canning Districts Athletics Club.

Few days away now for this one.

Anyone going? Barfridge? CK? Roger Explosion? Dugy? Bunyack? Pommy?

I'm still battling a couple of blisters (since the port to port a few weeks ago) but fingers crossed I will make it. Will make the call thursday after my easy run.

I'd love to do it, but I'm working until 7 that day.
I'm going to get a new phone and If I get one one that is not the latest and greatest, it will cost less than 200 bucks off ebay.
What I'm wondering is, will Android 2.2 (froyo) run Runkeeper without out too many dramas and when its running, does it suck up data usage?
Maybe a dopey question, but my shitbox nokia predates all those shenanigans and the GPS absolutely kills data.
Any runners want to field that one?

My phone runs android 2.2, and runkeeper is fine on it. The only time it uses data is to upload at the end of the run, and possibly pull down a map from google earth. We're talking less than a megabyte of data, I'm only on 200mb a month, and don't go anywhere near using it all. GPS usage is not data usage.

I need a new phone too, let me know how your search goes, might piggyback on your buy

I didn't notice runkeeper smashing data when I used it on the iphone?

@ Jeffridge, I was looking at either an LG Optimus (100 bucks) Samsung Galaxy mini (150) or HTC I cant remember which one it was called (200 bucks). All are relatively basic, but they fulfill what I'm looking for in a phone and have the Android 2.2 OS.

The LG gets terrible reviews, but the Samsung looks good.

I really doubt I'd be able to get there in time.
I actually prefer the idea of paths and bush anyway.

I'm going to be aiming for a 55 on friday. It'll be tough for me, I have been able to do that pace over 8 so will see how we go over 10.

Anyone seen the trail series before? Looks interesting

That is super cool, I'll defiantly be up for that and great to keep me motivated over Christmas and new year work break.

Races start super early so I won't get burnt!

How much is the cost for all of them? Still plodding through the registration process....Never mind found it $240

The Gilmour 10K is tomorrow night. Looks like there may be a bit of rain about hopefully it's not too humid. I'll be strapping my toes just in case to avoid the blisters from the wet port to port race.

I managed 55.30 for the 10k last night. very windy. great to run on the track legs felt great the whole run and it was only cardio holding me back.

With the 55 10k goal reached I'm now aiming for a 50 10k... by the 2012 bridges run.
