I got mine from Optus; buyout, not locked and just chucked my current half-way-through-my-contract sim into it for $780.. voila!
What size SIM does it take? Standard, or micro?

I skipped out on my Voda contract to get one. I love it. Could do with a hint more battery but coming off an iPhone you'll love the battery life, and speed!

CNET has a good review of them.
About the only thing CNET could find wrong is that the SD card goes under the battery. If you get a big enough card (32gig) you will probably never need to take it out. I need to evaluate new smartphone hardware and that one is now on the top of my list.
What I do not like about it is how big it is. Try putting one to your ear and tell me you don't feel like a goof.
I started with a Nokia 5110, currently have a bigger phone then the Samsung and have never thought about it..
Its the same width and only 3mm longer than my HTC HD2 which fits in a shirt pocket fine. Its a bit of a squeeze in jeans though. You do feel like a dick holding it up to your ear but get used to it.
I am tempted myself to trade in my Desire HD for one there so slick.
What phone do you currently have that is longer than 12.5cm and wider than 6.5cm?
Edit: not the one I am thinking of.
3 will never offer it... Since you can't sign a contract on Three anymore
