"Once you can have people more frightened of disorder than tyranny, it enables you to do almost anything you like so far as legislation is concerned." Chief Judge Antoinette Kennedy, 26/3/2010.
"The State must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation." Adolph Hitler, Mein Kampf
Nope. Google already has most of my data and has way too much control over the internet. Microsoft abused it's control over the internet with IE because it was what most people used, I'd rather keep Firefox and have my browser (and most people's browser) a separate entity.
^ whs ..ill stick to firefox thank you.

firefox ftw
Riding - Living the dream...

I'll probably trial it, see if it does anything that firefox doesnt.

stickin' with trusty firefox.
"In all the human societies we have ever reviewed, in every age and in every state, there has seldom if ever been a shortage of eager young males prepared to kill and die to preserve the security, comfort and prejudices of their elders, and what you call heroism is just an expression of this fact; there is never a scarcity of idiots." -The Culture

Firefox aint all that good - its just the lesser of 2 or 3 evils.
- Spuddy
i gotta admit when i saw the title, i instantly thought of teens and spraycans

I think it'll be interesting to have a look at it. Since it'll be open-source, I think people's concerns about Google's power 'should' be OK.

Ironic that Firefox is based on the mozilla XUL/CHROME toolkit???
I'll be staying with FF kthx.
Google can still be my search engine, sort my photos and show me maps of shit. Pity they can't get the map thing right a lot of the time (ya, henley brook drive has a fucking paddock in the middle of it guys, looks like it's been there for a while too). And Picasa has some gaping holes. But no, I've had enough googlies for now.
Captain Starfish is currently pimping:
Need your home theatre installed? MS Tech
Looking for awesome walls in your house? Custom Walls
Like scuba diving? UWA Underwater Club
Will prolly try it for a look see, on eof the things that might be inteeresting is that it is claimed to be the first browser designed to allow people to play games, chat and do all the stuff that wasn't around when the first iterations of IE 7 Firefox were around.
But, it didn't take long for Google to become the big bad beast, not unlike Microsoft.
One of the reasons why I first started using Firefox was that it was NOT a Microsoft product, and I figured that we were all better served by having choice.
But as I've just read on a news blog thingy, "A search engine that shaped the world, then there was Google maps/earth.. then streetview.. now Chrome ... everything is now in place !! "Skynet became self-aware at 2:14am EDT August 29, 1997"
Google, the octopus that lives out of the water.
But I'll still try it.

Every time a new google function comes out, I poo poo it until I try it and then I find that its genius.
The only thing I'm still boycotting is gmail, and thats because i dont want to have to change my email address.
I dont understand the whole 'google is taking over/becoming to big' crap - youre not forced to use it...
- Spuddy
I have my own domain which I forward my emails over (costs me less than $20 a year), so as long as I own the domain I can change where I redirect them to. I use Gmail and it's great (good having 7GB of space). Works good on mobile too.
btw, Firefox for the standard.
Ah the usual uneducated google-paranoia I see.
the technical points of difference in Chrome are quite significant. the way it handles javascript and web apps is pretty cool stuff. It should be stable and manage memory/cpu time quite ingeniously. I look forward to cranking it up.
To all you 'GOOGLE IS WATCHING ME MASTURBATE' folks, get real, maybe get a clue about what you're ranting about and hop off the 'google is evil' bandwagon.
Chrome is a browser built by a company with HUGE economical resources and outstanding technical minds. It's also open source. If there were any malicious or otherwise 'call home' routines built in to steal your personal information, there would be uproar. The web is moving towards not only holding information but hosting applications - that's what chrome is designed to do well - support the new generation of web apps.
unlike ff or ie, chrome separates each 'tab' as its own process with its own memory space. If one tab crashes, the others are unaffected..
I'd recommend reading the 'comic' that was released about chrome, if you want to know more about the real technical advances within it.
It's all good news as far as I'm concerned..
UP YA BUM
Yeah its pretty quick, looks pretty too
Seems to have a problem with the PSB Quick links drop down box though
Looks like I'll be sticking with Opera
Loving it here.
Google Chrome - Download a new browser for those who want to download it.
oo and it has a built in spell checker! Zomg.
UP YA BUM

Hmmm. It's great so far, but I can't post in some of the forums I frequent. PSB seems just fine though - of course!![]()

it's just a webkit/KHTML based browser like safari, which means it's a lot cleaner/quicker than firefox and can run on mobile devices (google competing with apple much?? iphone vs android)
