"waah i cant write drivers for shit"
Vista is good. Yes it eats ram. Stop being a tightfisted c*nt and spend the hundred bucks on an extra 2gig.
Yes, MacOS is more elegant, etc (you don't need to preach to me, i'm a unix nerd), but it doesn't run the software I want to run
People had a massive sad with Windows XP, refusing to upgrade from Windows 98 as well.
Further to what Gryphen said, i would add "we created a product with no market, waah!"
*shrugs*
edit:
Just on vista actually...
Over the course of this week, I've done a direct comparison on a new(ish) Dell D530 laptop - my work machine (2gig ram). We order our stuff with XP so far, so i was running XP and Office 2007 on it with 2gigs of ram. It was running like a pig.
Decided to put vista (32 bit) on it (originally to give readyboost a go), and its actually quicker (without readyboost). No, i'm not shitting you. My theory is that there must be a heap of libraries or somthing in office 2007 that's already loaded in Vista, or maybe even a "run slow on XP" bit of code in it or something. Whatever it is - Office 2007 seems to run much happier on Vista.
The spec on this machine is nothing special - onboard video, core2 duo, middle of the road spec... didn't expect it to run very well really, let alone quicker than XP.
