    2 x 9800M GTXs

E8500 @ 3.16Ghz.. can take up to a q9650, but I just can't see the benefit of a quad core in games..

3 320GB 7200 rpm drives(can raid0 them, but raid 5 is fast enough for me)

    6 Gig of DDR2 @ 800 Mhz

5.6K pickup from ITC on Hay street

Configured through: Clevo D901C Ultimate Metabox D901C Ultimate

Like I said though, I'll hold off and see what their new Core i7 offering is before I decide.

Wow's so graphically intensive, it'll run on a geforce 4. Why you're using it as a graphics benchmark is beyond me.

It's a testament to how bad on-board graphics really is that there's intel gme chipsets these days unable to compete with a geforce 4.

Well I bought this one http://www.perthstreetbikes.com/foru...op-sold-59352/

I have been running the latest Need 4 Speed game - Undercover, and doesn't glitch at all. Also having a 17" screen is great.

I was fortunate enough to get this for a good price second hand but would have paid the price for a new one after looking around and getting prices down a bit.

Just my 2c, hope it helps.

Nah, you just can't depreciate it.

anybody wanting to salary Sacrifice a laptop through work now needs to be able to establish a "business case" as to why they need a laptop at home. The only allowable reason is if the employee is required to work away from the office.

It is almost impossible to now salary sacrifice a laptop for a partner as there is no connection between the partners usage of the laptop and the company of the employee doing the sacrificing.

This was changed in the federal budget in May 2008 and became effective immediately.

    ^^ Exactly.

"I'd like to buy a laptop because I sometimes work from home" when buying it for someone else, doesn't translate to "we demandz to see ur work on ur lappy486 bcuz we're auditing j00!"

Although there was the case of that lawyer in the US who'd built himself a gaming rig with water cooling and LED's (not really necessary since he only played warcraft)... I can't remember if he was prosecuted for using company funds or forwarding the bill to a client. One thing's for sure, it was .

I don't really have an upper limit to my replacement budget as the gf will be salary packaging it. Having said that, I'm not going to pay a trillion dollars for a badge.

Has anyone been keeping up with the state of gaming laptops.

I'm thinking of waiting for the new Clevo D901C successor, but I'm looking for alternate options. Especially if they actually exist

So, my question is this, given that you were after a super beast of a laptop that you'd have to carry around on your bike and you wanted it to last for 3 years while not paying extra for marques or gimmicks, which machine would you get?

    I eagerly await your responses....

    ummm, you did?

and apparently it isn't as easy as your gf walking into the boss (unless she is the boss of course) and saying she wants a laptop and is going to sal sac it. All sorts of FBT implications to it too.

Oh, but clearly this thread is just a hypothetical. I'm just helping her pick one out.

Edit: Thank you for your concern, although you may rest assured that they'll happily get her a laptop.
