    Vista and Internet Explorer

IE7 keeps opening window after window. Seems to do it whenever the computer goes idle for a while. I come back to it and have to close 30 or 40 instances of IE.

I read that I can't uninstall it and renaming the executable isn't possible either.

This is a clean install and has all the updates. Running avast! and Sunbelt personal firewall. Scanned with adaware as well. Haven't had a virus or spy/malware detected. No firewall intrusions have popped.

Just seems like a bug. IE8 install be the ticket?

It's not something simple like a stuck launch button on the keyboard?
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

I don't think so. I just tried pressing all the buttons and nothing happened. It happens repeatedly and during screensaver modes.

I just installed IE8 so I'll see if that fixes the problem

What do they open up to? Your regular homepage or something else?

On a possible unrelated note, did you download avast to that computer from the net or install from other media? In the past the brief time without protection while I download avast has been enough to contract some nasties and force another fresh install.
