    Water Tractor Sprinklers

Working on a project in solidworks to model & redesign one of those water tractor/traveling/walking sprinklers - Same kind of design as found here.

What do you like about them? what needs improving? If I'm lucky was hoping I could borrow one to fiddle with, measure up and model etc.

I've got one hiding somewhere I think... don't need it in the current house - so if I find it you can borrow....

Problem I found is if it's sandy they bog down very easily!! Solution - bigger wheels...
    Adjusting squirt to spray.
Suscetible to UV damage (plastic ones)

Likes - auto turn off feature (on mine)
Simple to do large areas without forking out for retic.

Im just about to build a tractor mount unit for a acreage.

I had thought about a GPS control, and motorised etc, but I figure I should just putt round on the tractor (its italian) - just to be like those fancy/proper farmers

Keep the thread going, I like redesigns of most things!!

Could you make it look like a trike, or the Mr Bean car?
In all seriousness, aesthetics are about the only improvement I could think to make.

Could always take the standard "copy an existing product and put a clock and some LED's on it" approach?

Hahaha yeh. I think it's a stupid project really because I agree there's not many improvements to be made. Plastic ones were improved with metallic parts.. but are more pricey so whatever. Will keep onto it.
