    Web Design Tools ????

For all the Geeky ones out there.

Im looking for a good application to design a web page/web pages for my business.

    The simpler the better

The only thing I have used before is MS Frontpage, but I didn't really get into it that much as it was just to try and better my knowledge and I didn't really get anywhere with it due to not really having any particular thing to work on and I just lost interest. Other than that I have never touched a web design package.

I do have an IT and Programming background (Haven't done it for a long time though) so if I need to code I can, but I dont really want to have to spend alot of time doing this. Id rather just the point and click, drag and drop method if there is such a thing for web page design.

    Basic Requirements:
    Freeware
    Easy to use/create pages

Thats all I can think of right now.

    Thanks in advance.

There are heaps of WYSIWYG web design apps out there, just google it.

Other than that, programs such as dreamweaver are ALWAYS freeware if you look in the right places

dreamweaver. there is no other option. if you would like help obtaining a *cough* legal copy, plus a free comprehensive manual, pm me. if you're making simple/intermediate web pages then there will be no coding involved, and the manual sorta takes you through building a website step by step so you learn everything you need.
PSB - It doesn't matter how right you are. If you aren't in with the crowd who thinks they are the in crowd because they post a lot, then you are wrong.

Why don't you use WordPress › Blog Tool and Publishing Platform - theres thousands of free themes and you can create as many custom content pages as you want on top of the blog style pages.

Find a good theme that matches your logo, pop a logo image in and you're done.

Ah, ok seems like Dreamweaver may be the way to go, however I will look into this WordPress. Never heard of it before.

I have already "found" Dreamweaver CS4 on my harddrive.... must have fallen on there !

A manual wont be hard to source.

When designing a web page, is it wise to choose a screen res that you want to work with or does this sort itself out when being viewed on different size screens ? (1280x1024)vs(1920x1280) etc
Obviously there are going to different people viewing the pages all with different screen res's.

Also hosting, what are the options, what does it cost, what are some good places to try ???

    Thanks again
