    Question Wireless Broadband - bbnet?

    Dear PSB,

I have a telecommunications problem that I’m hoping you may be able to assist with.

The company I work for has completed a new factory in a relatively new landsdale development area, close to the Gnangara Road/Madeley St intersection.

We are not unsurprisingly having some issues with Telstra, RE the connection of the estate to an exchange. There is currently no copper in the street and the latest completion date for those works is several months into the future.

Rather than delay our move to this facility, we would prefer to set something up in the interim to give us a phone service and some type of data connectivity.

The phone service is relatively easy and will use the existing infrastructure (Mitel 330Cxi), coupled to a mobile sim based front end and sip trunks for VOIP.

The data service is where I am struggling however and want to know if anyone has any suggestions on this.

Firstly, we need a data service that gives us a static IP.

As far as I can tell this effectively cuts out all options bar Satellite or Wireless Broadband (not mobile broadband).

Satellite is only our worst case option and would prefer not to use it.

The only wireless provider I’ve been able to locate is bbnet (thanks smeghead ), however they haven’t done a site survey for us yet to determine whether we have LOS to the antenna tower (Malaga location I believe).

Has anyone used bbnet before or have any other suggestions as to people or technologies to try?

    Cheers,

    Gronk.

Yes it doesnt bode well for the company when you call thier 'sales' line, and it makes you wait for 20 minutes, even though telling you that you are 'first in the queue' - then get diverted to messagebank.

I've called twice and its the same story so hopefully they get back to me and we can see whether the site survey turns up anything positive.

Another suggestion was raised today, using the cellular network with a static IP service from these guys Connect Direct

Anyone used them before or have any thoughts?

Can I ask why you definitely need a static IP?

Potentially there is an option to solve the requirement for a static temporarily and run with standard 3G / MBB setup

Depending on the location approach a business ( Offer them some cash as a sweetener ) which is within line of site, install a naked DSL service at their premises with a point to point wireless network to your new factory. Sounds expensive but the gear to do this is very affordable, the install is the only painful bit.

Try these guys, according to their map you should be right for coverage dont know about a static IP but you can always use a redirection service if it really needed.
