Just got a little talking to from work about hits on certain sites, is there a way to stop adverising from refreshing and PSB to stop using so much traffic?

Do some work?

You could turn off sigs/avatars as well...

There isnt any reason you would be hitting "certain sites". Up until now the advertising has always been from google, therefore the only advertising hits would be to adsense.

Using Firefox (not sure for other browsers) download the "NoScript" extension, then disable scripts from google (but leave PSB enabled)

Warning : this will deactivate pretty much *everything* from google

But oh the current ad on my machine is a motopro one which isnt a google ad?

NoScript is great for blocking ads and popups in general (I typically leave google ads unblocked however), but if a site hosts the ad themselves (like on PS there isnt much you can do...

Guys, please keep in mind that advertising is an important way this website is funded. Somebody has to pay for the gargatuan bandwidth PSB uses, and it might as well be a company, not users. So feel free to click on an ad for something that interests you.

For these reasons we discourage discussion on how to get around the advertising.

The advert is tiny traffic.

I would sugest turing off sigs and avatars if you want to reduce traffic.
