    Speeling

I don't know if anyone has picked up on this before, because I'm too lazy to search.

If so, please do not hesitate to fill this thread with images of rotund canines.

On the menu bar at the top of the screen, under the weather tab, forecast is incorrectly spelt 'forcast'.

    Just sayin'

Well spotted old chap, I'll et one of the sweatshop monkeys to fix that immediately.

After a sound beating for getting it wrong in the first place, of course.

I mentioned the In The Loop info line years ago, too.

It's currently this; "If your organising a ride or event, wack it in here. You're in the loop!"

It should be "you're" and "whack", but wack will suffice, I guess.

Really a simple spelling infarction gets you a beating in this place? I LIKE the way this place works.

You should read "English and how it got that way" by Bill Bryson. (I think that is the correct title).

Some believe that American English is closer to real English that what they speak in England.

When the first migrants moved to England they took their pronunciations and some of their spellings and their decendants today still speak the same way whereas English in the motherland continued to evolve.

Take Aluminum. It only became Aluminium when the Europeans decided to make it like all the other "ium" elements. However, the Americans didn't change and hung on to the original spelling and pronunciation.

Apparently English itself was such an evolving language that 400 years ago a party travelled 40 miles down the Thames and couldn't communicate well enough with the locals to ask for food. In fact, the "english" that we use is far removed from its earliest roots. With the invention of the printing press english spelling kind of "froze" but the pronunciations continued to evolve.
