    1976 honda cb550f ss

Just picked up the project bike.

I started a blog that will cover the project in more detail: Gallows Five Fifty

Feel free to discuss in this thread or on the blog.

    Peace.

Cafe. I'll be posting pics as parts come in. Currently the carbs are off waiting for the rebuild kit. I'm going to get it going for now, then this fall I'll start the major rebuild. There's a few months wait on some of the hand made parts.

    Looks like a great project.
More air cooled 4's popping up all the time, and this size/styled motor gives the right proportions for a cafe conversion.
    Good luck :-)

Definitely a the perfect size for a cafe, the 750's are a tad too bulky.

    good luck

Agreed. I originally wanted to go with the 750 but came to the same conclusion. The oil tank was also outside my interest.

Here's the bike as of yesterday. Should be able to pass inspection soon, pending the arrival of Pirelli Sport Demons.

Ordering parts for the major overhaul soon.

Tell me what you guys think. I wasn't too sure about the black chain or the chrome spokes. Any other comments are welcome. And if you want photoshop work done like this, email this kid, his work is amazing. I can't believe he made that polished aluminum tank look so real and he even made the Honda decal curve with the tank.

Clean it up, paint it nicely/professionaly, clip ons or clip on bar, top fairing and pollish clutch cover, rear brake, etc.
It is a very nice classic bike as it is in the picture and should not be hacksawed and ripped apart.
But, it is your bike and your $$

Mate i dont see the point of that advice to be honest.
You have sold ya CBX1000 to Shortfuse and he's gunna "hack" it up to turn it into a streetfigher and youre folllowing his thread with "great interest and think that the end result will be outstanding!"
Now your telling this guy not to cut up a classic. Which is it? I appreciate your well liked and respected on PSB, but i reckon is pretty harsh telling a guy he's made a big mistake when he's already gone and bought a $$ tank seat combo

they ate me alive on sohc4.net too. i think some people were upset when they realized that picture was originally of the pinas 550, but it's nice to be able to do photoshop work like that though to get a feel of what your project will look like. i'm really fishing for comments on the black chain idea though... what do you guys think?
