    1985 gsxr 750

Thought Id post up some info on my bike build since today was my first ride since I bought it.
Anyways a few months ago I purchased the bike through P.S.B in a run down state but it was complete and was licensed.
A photo after picking it up:

I wasnt sure what I was going to do with it as I always liked the slingshots better so first thoughts were to fighter it. I had visions of a zx9 rear end and 1100 motor stuffed in the frame.
After going through gixxer.com I found some inspiration and ditched the streetfighter option to go with a 86 750r limited style replica with paint scheme undecided.

Parts were ordered till the credit card was no longer working and when the dyna coils showed up, I fitted them and had a running bike. A set of 36mm slingshot carbs were sourced together with a jet kit and pod filters, Im still waiting for the carb boots to fit these

The fibreglass showed up yesterday So I fitted it up (LTD tail and 87 fender)
Absolutely brilliant quality from Nationals fibreglass, the fit was spot on.

Still waiting for parts to arrive and Ive still got a long way to go so will keep updates coming as I progress.

Nice bike. when I first started racing the GSXR750 was the king of the hill in superbikes and what I wanted to graduate to after my RG250.
I am currently doing a tart-up of a 84 Katana at the moment.
I look forward to seeing how yours turns out.

This bike is the direct decendant to the RG500 signaling the demise of the strokerbikes!

Hi mate the carbs I got from a wrecker in the U.S for $250 The jet kit and filters I got seperately cant remember the cost around $120 each. I still have all the old tail parts you can have but there not in very good condition. Send us a pm if your still keen, the 88's are different so not sure about the top part your after but I have the grab rail.

    Some more parts arrived:

The 1100 rear rim is half an inch wider than the 750 yet indentical, it's what the 750r's came out with and will allow me to
fit a massive 160 rear tyre
Other parts are all genuine 750r license lamp assy, silver stand, throttle and grips and various bolts. Wheels will be powdercoated white before getting new michelins.

Subscribed as well. Looking forward to seeing how she turns out - Ltd seat cowling looks good! Glad you didn't street fighter it, she's 25yrs old now and has reached classic status and a street fighter build would ruin it (my opinion only of course).... you watch the value of these babies rise from here on in.

Why the carb change can I ask? Are the std flatsides worn out?

Hi mate Ive gone for the later model carbs as they seem to be a common upgrade with the slabsides. The flatslides are not in the best shape so thought I would try the 36's. Thanks for the comments guys.

cool project - I owned one of those new..... The first four stroke that I enjoyed riding anywhere near as much as previous 2 strokers. I nearly hurt myself lots of times on that bike. The RR replica theme is a great idea too.

    Update:
This build has come to a screaming halt, I just found and bought the bike I've always wanted. Will continue the build hopefully mid next year. (When I have the money)

    Here's the new oiler:

    Very nice looking 11.

There have been a few of the 85 750's coming up recently, which is making me wonder about a historics racer. What sort of money have you spent on that to get it running with a wider rear rim? Did the place that supplied the tail have front glass?

The rims a direct fit replacement, everything is interchangable so $200 plus a tyre. Yeah they have front glass aswell, I think airtech do a 1 piece race front section which is the front, mids and lowers all in 1. Postage is the killer for the large fairing pieces though.
