Thanks and it is a great process and almost finished. Some small changes to make and then the biggest thing is to get it over here to Perth from Tennessee. Can't wait. Hope to get it here after the first of the year. Going there to see and ride it during the Holidays. This 1991 Police FXR was purchased in Georgia by myself in ebay. Now rebuilt.

Does anyone have a source to find out how many Harley FXR Police were made in 1991 and how many are in Australia. Would like to talk to some others that have one about some of their quirks.

I always fancied an FXR. But set up for sporting rather than cruising.

Have you sought advice on importation ?
I believe it's a bit of a minefield and can cause you some serious heartache if you don't get it right.

I have looked into it and still not quite sure of all of the mechanism. I have called twice to the gov and told them what I am doing and I have gotten 2 different answers. The trick is that I am a dual citizen (USA and Australian) and I hope that helps. I will also own the bike for 1 year prior to bringing it in. Not sure of the rest of it but will submit the application and see what happens.

I brought our 1979 corvette in when we came over 7 years ago and did not have any trouble with it except getting it over the pits. I will have some mods to do to get it over the pits on the bike also.

I think your ownership of the bike will help with the importing in a big way.

That is one of the keys is to be able to demonstrate that you have owned the bike for at least 1 year. The other kicker is that one person from the gov said that you must demonstrate that you have been with the bike for that year. The other person said nothing of this. So my plan is to get the application in to the gov and see what they say which has to be done before I send the bike.

Mate, you should call a shipping company that specialises in importing gear.These are the guys that will be able to do all the paperwork for you and will be able to advise how it's to go.Government monkeys don't really have much of an idea.I used these people for many years for exporting... Sea Transport Management Pty Ltd but there's plenty of other companies around.

Thanks for that I am starting to work on that. Still a few items left to finish and I am going there in Jan to give it a ride before I bring it over. Can't wait to see the old girl and her new look. Let alone ride her. Will be great going down through Perth on her.

Very clean bike!! What was the thinking with the guards being a different colour?

I am restoring my 46 Chevy pickup at the same time. This was originally my grandfathers and all of us boys drove it as kids out to the farm. It was my oldest brothers who passed away at age 19. I have also custom it with a 327ci small block bored out .30 over, fuel injected. Donnie Taylor from the International Christine Club (google it) is doing the final work. I did the first part, engine and first paint but Donnie is finishing it and making it right. He is an artist. So the bike matches the truck. Here is some picks of my truck.016.jpg

I hope so. I have not seen them together but will in December. The truck is being finished and will be by Dec for my Dad's 80th birthday. The bike is finished and I will see them back in Tennessee and then bring the bike over. Not the truck it will stay with Dad for now.
