    2005 R1 Street Fighter Build

    Hello everyone,

Thought I'd just let you know that I have decided to change my bike to a street fighter and for no other reason other than wanting something different. My plan is to do it low budget but smartly in the hope I can pull off a good looking bike without breaking the bank.

Any suggestions, tips, or good sites I can purchase equipment from please let me know.

I will try to post pics of the build along the way if I finally work out how to actually attach the images on this forum. (bit chit with computer).

Good Start with the Corbin Seat, Every Streetfighter needs a comfy seat, since there is no wind protection

That seat is actually just a cover I bought that went over the original. My original seat got scratched on the way over from brisbane from an ocky strap.

Gutsy question. You're a shark. Sharks are winners, and they don't look back because they have no necks. Necks are for sheep.

speed3 is correct its just heat wrap. I was going to get the headers cermaic coated but thought the heat wrap would look a bit rough and tougher. It is an absolute mungral to put on and I would never do it again.

Why don't you buy a wreck / repairable write off and do it up??

Sorry..... I have a soft spot for the 05 Raven R1s. It seems a shame to hack at it.
Have you won the game recently?? Post here

Look at my 05 R1 fighter build, 10 months or so back , few things that may help out. Don't listen to the haters ( only playin kiddies ), they make prefect fighters. But and its a big but, make a extra effort to make it reversable, just incase like me you miss that great front end side grip when right over, and you start flippin from one to another ( build ) every over weekend ,lol. Good luck, you can't go wrong, miss mine like crazy.....

Funny their are so many lovers and haters of streetfighters. I too use to hate them also but I think they are pretty awesome if done simply and properly. I love my bike as a sports bike just wanted something to build as I know little about bikes and you can not get any beter hands on experience than something like this. Plus I can still get my lean on when I want as I have a 05 gsxr600 track bike.

2wheels I think I saw your build the other day is it the red one, if so would love to meet up with you at some stage and have yarn about some goods and bad you may have come across. Did your top yoke hold up with just drilling it. I have a top yoke at the wreckers I can pick up for $80 bucks so I don't have to drill mine. What mm riser did you go or recommend (40mm,50mm,60mm easily available).

My bike is going to be completely reversable, no cutting, welding, etc.

Yoke will be fine, but i did use the anti rotation holes drilled out (12mm ) and milled dead flat underneath, removed material for a wider bolt surface, many wheelies and they never moved a mill. I used 40mm risers, that i milled an angle to clear the fork tops enough without being to far back ( this allowed lowest tag bars to be used and just cleared bar its self ). I re routed throttle cables over cam cover ( release from clips, give loads more length ), clutch cable also worked fine after tons of fannying about. Hardest part was the electrics on the left side, getting them all hidden behind frame rail, but keeping a little air flow for cooling and also using the heat proof material between them, well that tested my faith, lol. And yeah we can meet some time, but feel free to ask anything, never a problem.

I got that headlight for free from work, its off a DRZ400. I was suprised that myself and some mates actually think it doesn't look to bad. I think my plan is to have that one for a about 12months and then upgade to a custom on from the states. I am set on getting some TOCE pipes for the bike (4pipes out of the rear) think that will set the bike off. Its all budget build and reversable.

Big decision is drill top yoke and go moto x bars or try APEX CLIP ONS from sportbiketrackgear.com - they look sweet and are very universal. They is a you tube video on them they have so many different angles and heights.

    Do you have an R1

Nah I'm doing up a ZX10 as a fighter. I also have that exact headlight from back in my stunting days but I can't stand the look. IMO its ugly as sin...but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if u like it then that's all that matters I'm sure there will be many who don't like what I do to the Ninja! Don't worry so much about drilling the top yoke cos another one will set u back a hundred bucks off Fleabay.
