    2006 ZX6R Limited Edition

    ok background first ...

The bike is a 2006 D6F ZX6R in Titanium Silver with Tribal Flames. I purchased this as it was different to the typical kwaka green. It was pretty much the last one to buy at the time as the 07's were being released so you could not purchase any more. I got lucky with it and am very happy with the choice. I wanted an under seat pipe so that limited my choices for a big bike. It had to be a 600 also. The daytona was not as comfortable for me so I got this.

October I did a racecraft day and second session decided I needed a lay down on turn 4. Entered in to turn 4 got about half way through and was about to power on when I lost the front. I cut the corner a little short so had to pick my knee up and moving around obviously upset the bike. That's about all I remember from it. Big Col was right behind me and said everything looked reasonably good so movement is only thing I can think of. Was the 4th lap and wasn't really going bananas on the throttle so this was the assessment about the crash. After I lost the front the bike slid nicely on the oggies but when it hit the dirt it flipped and basically smashed the right hand nice superbly. Put a crack in every fairing or at least a scuff mark. You can make your own assessment whether oggy's are good or not.

Anyway damage of bike is below and now I'm doing a bit of a make over to pretty her up and thought I might as well do a members project bike.

    First off the damage.

    Right hand side rear scuff

    Right hand side of tank

    Lower left side

    Front again ... obviously

    Front right side view

    Bottom right

now the fixes and mods as I go along ...

I'd already done a couple of small things which was Akropovic slip on pipe which I ordered with the bike.

Acumen digital indicator. I'll take a better pic of this later.

A set of braided brake lines front and rear in red of course

    something like that

Brand new fairings on their way. Unfortunately for Yagadan they won't arrive by this weekend.

Some pazzo goodness, hopefully some dubs goodness soon to be ordered too. Nothing spectacular but just some items to neaten the bike up.

Potato doesn't know it yet but I'm going to see if he can fix the old fairings and I'll turn them in to my track fairings for racecraft goodness.

1 thing I need some help from my fellow psber's is engine covers.

I want something in red ... i've checked with SBK and they don't really have anything. Where can I get some nice engine covers from.

woodcraft have those billet ones with red sliders?

unless you mean you want the whole engine cover in red...

in which case when you get the new cover, you could attack it with red VHT paint?

    yup those are the ones

    cept black and red

thing with woodcraft is the sliders are bolted from the inside of the case
so if you go down you'll have to take the case off to replace the slider which is a pain in the ass as opposed to the bracket type which bolts ontop of the engine cover.

    but they do look good

yeah mate no probs ... pretty sure they are goodrich lines. Got them from superbiketoystore.com (they are a sponsor )

I didn't think they would blend well with the red of the rest of the bike but as you can see from the pics against the rims they are reasonably close.

my biggest fear is all different colours of red for levers, lines, covers etc.

That looks pretty sweet vbroom ... red on black would look better than red on the silver I think too.

    Additions :)

ok so what i've added ... what I wanted was just a little bit more red to make the colours stand out a bit more and personalize the bike. I didn't want to go overboard and hopefully I haven't. My biggest worry was having 10 different colour reds over the bike but its pretty close for most of it. May look at re-colouring later but for now I'm happy.

First up was a new engine cover as mine was scratched badly ... Woodcraft left cover and stator cover ordered from superbiketoystore

Set of Pazzo Levers courtesy of Steve at Rated R and Bar Ends from SBK again.

Speedking rearsets ... Basically I can't buy red rearsets and had a couple people try and chase some down but eventually I found these rearsets. I had to modify the linkage lever as it was too long for my peg position so luckily for me work came to the rescue with the lathe.

520 chain conversion with new front and rear sprockets again from SBK

Rear seat cowl from kwaka. Not overly happy with this item as you can see from the pic ... too much of a gap and this is with no washer in the rear. Not sure how I can fix this yet.

All up she's ready to run and with the new leathers also from SBK I'm about to go test her out

Thanks again to Stephan, Amber from SBK and Steve at rated R

Gozer, I ordered OEM for that reason. From factory Kwaka have gold swirls through the paint ... the local guys told me we can do about a 95% match and I said no thanks. I'm glad I ordered OEM.

Kristy ... He even said ... one thing kwaka do well is use the same size allen key for nearly every bolt ... makes it easy. Wish I had that on tape
