    85 rg250 restoration

Hey guys and girls, thought I would post a thread of my 85 rg250 build.

It started off with buying an 84 rg250 off evilbay for $450! After finding it had done a big end bearing I wasn't too keen on it and bought an 85 rg250 for spares without realizing that nearly everything was different.

So now I am selling off my 84 rg (pm me if you need anything) and keeping the 85.

I plan on taking it back to mostly original apart from making some mufflers as the originals are cruddy and painting it plain old black as no doubt its going to go down the road!

The bike as I bought it, most of the fairings are good apart from some snapped off lugs, but I bought some new side covers and the top fairing is held together with tek screws!

Got some nice clocks with only 10,000km on them (they are original km as the 1 has faded!)

    Fairings I bought.

Haven't taken the top end off but it hasn't done a big end by the looks of it which is a plus!!

The magneto has come off which seems to be a big problem with this model, stuffing the taper, so I might weld it up and grind a new, shallower taper on it.

Are these holes drilled here from the factory or is it something the previous owner has done to balance it?

I'm after the front indicator and headlight mount, along with an ign, top fairing and screen and a rh caliper dust cover. Does this model come standard with belly-pan?

The drilled holes in the magneto are from the factory, just to balance it.
It's all fun until someone loses a nut.

Did a bit of sanding and crap the weekend before last.

    Horrible job.

    The beast

Made a start on the tank

    Side covers started.

Still have a almost complete 83-84 MK1 Rg250 here if you need anything (minus chambers, barrels, electrical stuff and a fuel tap )
