advice please on stipping paint from fairings

    hey all,

i have a cheap chinese kit of fairings on and am really bored atm, so am deciding to repaint them, especially as i get the paint, primer and all FREE / very low cost.....

what im questioning is whats the best way to strip the paint of the currenct panels?

do you need to strip the paint?

Couldn't you just give them a light sand to roughen them up and repaint.

Or just find a plastic safe paint stripper?

    maybe some brake fluid

Get a grey scotchbrite pad and rub the shine from them. Then dust a coat of primer on and lightly sand them again with 500grit paper. Then apply your paint and clear. If u are after a good looking job on them u can also use 1500grit after a few days and buff them up

As everyone else said. Sand, prime, the dust coat will show up and imperfections, sand, prime, paint, clear.
