This is the first bike I ever bought, I've had it for over 20 years. Started to turn it into something but have spent the last year 'getting around to it'. Not everyones cup of tea, I'm sure, but its mine.

different. i'm sure it'll be pretty cool when you've finished it
"I think she's kinda sweet...but she makes her living catching cum in her mouth and i'm sensing that's a problem with you"
Now that WILL be different, I'm lookimng forward to this.
‘90% useless’ and ‘10% distorted'

Awesome!! Watching with interest!

Its a Cossack. Or universally known as a Ural. They were brought into Aus in the 70's and sold for a dollar a cc. They're made in Russia. This one predates the 70's imports and is most likely an early 60's frame with 70's running gear.
I've chopped both ends of the frame. The plan at this stage is to run an internal throttle and internal twist clutch. That's sort of where I got up to and haven't gotten back to it. I got the throttle working fine, but the clutch has too steep a pitch in the machanism, so have to get another one turned up.
Loving the Bobber/Broad Tracker look, will be following this one.
The Ural/Cossack was unreliable from stock but with the right mods it can be made to run reliably.
A mate of mine bought one new in the late 80's when someone here in Sydney was importing them, it still had some problems dispite the mods the importer had made like new pistons and rods better electrics and so on, I cant remember all the mods but there were a few. He had it over a year but it was just not reliable enough as he was travelling distances every day.
Good luck with the build.!!
Thanks guys. Yeah they were unreliable. The motor had a full rebuild about 5000 kays ago, its got mazda pistons and Mikuni carbs and heads cleaned up. The main problem is the charging circuit. The 'generator' is a 6v and the system was converted to 12v, and it never worked properly. I've given up on it. I'm going to run LED head light and brake light and run total loss. That'll be fine for what I want it for. They've reopened the factory and are making new bikes again, and most of the old parts are now available on Ebay. I couldn't believe it, parts were always so hard to get, now its easy and cheap. They also have about 4 different versions of electronic ignition available. I bought one to see how it goes, I've never tried electronic on a kick start before. Might go back to points if its no good.
Just had my second look at it this morning and really digging this. We all just have to keep you motivated to stay at it!
That's my cup of tea. Now get back to work on it!

Foot pegs happen later in the evolution.
Great to see something far from mainstream evolving. Build thread on PSB ?
Intelligence and education are three sides of the same coin.
nice! I dig the rake on the front end..
What are your plans with registration following the extensive frame mods you have done so far??
Looksl ike the Ural650... had to laugh at the writeup on the carby
K301 carburetor
Up to late 1970's
Absolutely awful, leaks, floods,
spits, fuel almost anywhere except into the engine. What does make it to the
engine is rarely the correct mixture.
If you are an originality freak and you
want a M63 or M66, this is what should be fitted.
‘90% useless’ and ‘10% distorted'
Yep it is a Ural 650......but was sold as a Cossack in England I think? Anyway same thing.
This is what it was like 2 years ago.........Pretty huh? Pretty urgly. But it ran ok.
I've actually done more on it than what in the pictures there, but not much you can see, I'll take one on the weekend.
Re: rego......its registered.
Ugly? its million times better looking than a busa, despite how unreliable it is. Look forward to seeing this progress. good luck!
So long as the carburation is right the electronic ignition should improve starting, economy and reliability.
You may meed to rethink the total loss electrics though as most electronic ignition's need to maintain a minimum charge rate to work properly. Some of the older Boyer Brandson units for old Triumphs and Nortons etc caused problems if the charging wasn't right.
I bought a new Pazon ignition for my Tbird (still to be fitted) but it will run fine down to 8 volts charge, which is good if you altinator fries half way home. Keep the updates coming.
