I know of no such technique...
generally once you get smell into carpet it never comes out
especially vomit
my brother found that one out the hard way ahaha
I think I may just go buy some from one of those warehouse sales where they are constantly closing down for like 5 years straight

Well turns out my sister's friend's parent's friend's sister had some carpet they were ripping out of their house, so now I have more than enough and its in nice condition too
Exams are coming up shortly so this is on hold, however Ive managed to get a fair bit of $$ in the savings account so once the post-exam hungover fades the following will be happenning:
Trial fit the seat in the rear of van, setup seat-belt mount points etc etc
paint interior black, EVERYWHERE
lay carpet all over floors, cut to size and stick her in
also got to source some cargo-net style webbing for the roof, and some beanbags

Update: So uni exams are well and truly over and I have recovered from the weekend shenanigans long enough to put a few hours into the van interior...
first off, a trip to get myself $30 worth of bad spray paint, some sandpaper and primer, a few filter masks and some masking tape....
Now the interior was already dodgily worked on by me earlier, so finishing it off and cleaning it all up in the back section resulted in the few pics you see below

and then finishing it all off and putting the trims back in, as well as door trims and such gave a decent looking final result...
yes there is some overspray in areas around the doors but that will be cleaned up later when the whole exterior is painted...the paint looks a bit dodgy on some of the inside panels but thats because a few sections I touched up hadn't dried yet... looks fine now though
This week I want to get the carpet and seat out of the way before I have to start studying for my deferred exams

Methylated Spirits or Mineral Turpentine usually cleans carpet pretty well, rubbing the carpet with another piece.

Im not looking to clean it though? aha
I haven't put it in yet... the stuff that is currently in there is just a cruddy lino floor mat thingo...
I've got a whole heap sitting in the garage ready to go in
Only thing im dreading is the whole measuring shenanigans so the carpet fits in to all of the curves and around the wheel wells and such...... looks like it will be a case of measure 45 times, cut once....

yeah its the floor pan bit im talking about... just getting the shape around the base of it seems like a lot of effort
Im not sure if I will actually put carpet on the wheel arches yet, Ill have to see how it looks... too many complex curves meaning its probably just going to end up creased and looking crap... I'll do a few test runs with some spare carpet once I've got the main floor piece in

Looking good Steve!
How did you go about the seat in the back? do you need a engineer to sign off on it( or is it more a seat for passengers while stationary as far as the law is concerned?)

Haven't managed to get around to fitting the seat in yet... I need to measure up and cut the carpet too...
It is an original econovan seat with all the original ADR complianced brackets/belts etc... so shouldn't be a hassle from the cops in theory because it fits in factory mount points and everything (although it is only registered for 3 people hmm)... I won't bother getting it engineered just yet, see how it turns out... maybe in the future...
as for now though progress has stopped as I study for my deferred exams I have to sit after receiving a hockey ball to the head (concussion) during my original exams...
stay tuned soon for:
carpet
seat
stereo/speakers/sub install
also I need some cargo netting for the roof...preferably made of thickish webbing, not thin rope... anyone know where I can get some?

you can buy those occy strap webbing nets, with hooks all over it. might be an option.

I think he's going for something a bit more heavy duty... Unless I'm mistaken, in which case, those occy strap nets are awesome.

aha thanks guys... sitting at home studying is killing me when its such a nice day to be outside working on the beast again
As brownca mentioned, looking for something relatively heavy duty... I already have some occy-strap netting but it stretches too much with heaps of droop when you put windsurfing boards up there...
nylon webbing or the same webbing the put across the bow of catamarans would be ideal...
something like this would be nice:
then spray paint it camoflauge colours...well...because I can
