Bunyacks Retro Bike Project

SO...... i acquired an old bike.

Actually it's a Red-Line BMX with a banana seat and railing. It looks like it was a stolen bike as someones done a very quick 'mod' of spray painting most of the bike (stickers, tyres, brakes + pads) rattle can gold.

im gonna do it up over the holidays.

    What are your suggestions???

remove sissy bar/banana seat, replace with a normal seat and post - sell it on ebay for $50-100.

go round the rubbish collections for each suburb and find something that is more of a vintage shape and then modify that instead.

it just looks silly, its a relatively modern bmx bike trying to be pose as something dragster-ish
You can pick up some way cooler old bikes for free if you look around

I think you should paint naked ladies on the frame.

mmm i'd like to see a bmx race styled, (paint, number, 80's colouring etc) chopper. a nice Green or pearl dark blue like the blue in E.T movie posters or the green from Ninja Turtles. chop the seat bar down low, chop the angle and change the rake of the front forks and change'em to a long stem on curved front forks.
Or if you really want a matt black frame but keep the same theme with red coloured rubber ohhh yeah

This is where im at so far. stripped the frame back and went matte black.

was a bit lazy, so I didnt take the rim off and chrome it.

    went the black chrome.

I only tried one side with the paint pen. it does work.....

but doesnt look to bright/good up close.

Will soon be adding these bad boys (chrome fenders) just need to chop them to fit.

Before the haters be hating, I know the front fender should be ther other way around but I Cant get it to fit as the front forks get in the way and prevent the fender from attaching to the axle.

    Total so far:

    Hand grips: $20
2 cans of spray paint: $8
    5 new allen bolts: $3.70

    total: $31:70

    Quick Question:

Can anyone fab up a "ape-hanger" style handle bar???? The BMX style bars do not fit the style im going for. I have a ape-hanger style h-bar here but they are the same height as the bmx ones. Ideally, I'd like some bars that rise up another foot... possibly to be at the same height as the rear sissy bar.

    Things to do:

Paint / (buy new) white foot pegs.
Get kick ass ape-hanger handle bars.
