    CB250 for the lady!

    Hey team!
Got a 1982 CB250n (super hawk) on friday that im going to fix up for Mel in the hope that she will get her license.

Thought id at least start the thread and post pics later as i have a bit of a quandry.

The bike will start and run, however, i think there is a vacuum leak as when i go to rev it, it will hesitate and cough and fart then die. When i can get it to rev, then get it into gear and go to set off, same thing. Bike needs a lot of revs to move then coughs and dies.

Thinking of pulling the carbs and having a looksee! Thoughts?

    Cheers and beers!
    Chris

There she is! Only damage as such is a small dent on the right hand upper ridge of the tank. The tank and plastics are in need of a respray but for a near 30 year old bike its in damn good condition. had it running today and its a bit hesitant to rev so i need to get my hands on a carby kit and a repair manual at the very least.

Im not planning anything outrageous for this. Just a respray, 2 into 1 exhaust (either reverse cone or slashcut upswept megaphone) and possibly a CB400 twin disc front end. I'll also change the handlebars as the bike has been down on the right hand side and the bars have been welded on the bend near the brake m/cyl. So probably a set of sreetfighter bars or something.

Thanks Geeza. Unfortunately it got written off late last year so I'm doing 250 duties for a while. The handle bars on the cb have been repaired previously and I decided to buy a new set. However I remembered I had a standard set from the zrx and they fit perfect. This afternoon I'm going to flip them over to look like clipons. I want to make the pipes into a 2 into 1 system following the factory right hand path.

Thanks Geeza! Hoping to get another one day.

I pulled the carbies and gave them a clean the other day, cleaned the float chambers, needle piston, needles and jets etc. Was a little better, revved a bit cleaner but still not 100%. Sparkplugs are pointing to it running rich, they are black and sooty. Currently pricing up carby kits online and locally.

Local Honda dealer will balance and tune for about 50$ so ill get them to do that when i have rebuilt it.

Pulled the head and barrels off the spare engine to measure the piston and gudgeon pins to see if i can swap them out with a set from a 400 without changing rods or crank. As long as the gudgeons are the same and the pistons arent going to mash the valves then ill bore out the spare 250 barrels and make it a 400ish. LOL.

Getting another tank from Frankston in Vic shortly. It has a nice blue on black paint scheme on it and more importantly, is dent free!!! If the paint on it is in good condition, i might go with that scheme or something different. Liking the idea of a green bike with matte black engine and frame.

Havent looked into 2 into 1 pipes yet but will have to speak to an exhaust shop or man up and get a welder and tackle it myself. Stand by for more pics as things progress.

I have a few parts coming but nothing has arrived yet and im growing impatient!!!!!
