36psi is waaaaaay to high even for street tires on the track. That should have been covered in the briefing before you started the day, as well as the racecraft you have attended.

I run around 25-29 hot depending on the conditions (that's with warmers on for one hour or right after pulling in) running diablo supercorsas. It's something you have to learn. Watching tearing patterns to get the pressure/setup correct. At a typical trackday, I check my pressures around 15 times, adjust them probably 3 times depending on how things are going.

It's been a while, but i've managed to get some 1 handed wrenching done over the long w/end to start the road to recovery for the bike. Parts will be filtering through and I expect the bike to be fixed well before I'm good enough to ride.

So where to start, easy part first i guess. Rear Tail.

Next up the front upper cowl, remove the mirrors, unbolt a few more screws.

Instrument cluster removed

Now to get the side fairings off. Right side easy.

Left side, hmm..Headlight assembly has nothing left to hang onto since I removed the upper cowl, so out with the headlight assembly too.

Tank cover off

A few of the fairing parts will head off to magic repair land.

Now I have to wait till parts rock up before i rip into the engine cover.

Air intake assembly will also need to be disassembled to replace throttle linkages.

Small amount of coolant appears to be leaking near one of the joins, either a split pipe or joiner, nothing major but this will be looked into once engine has been sorted.

Enough 1 handedness for today.

Well it's been a while since the bike got pulled apart.
All the replacement parts have been slowly rocking up over the last few weeks and I've now got majority of the parts to put the CBR back together.

Just getting to work on replacing the throttle linkages, far out what a friggin PITA that is. Been looking for a easy way around doing the bottom linkage but have'nt found any easy solution. Will continue with trying to contort my hand.

Will try to post some photos when i get time.

Thanks for the offer of help from everyone. I really do appreciate it.
Everything i need to do is pretty simple, but some bits are just down right fiddly shit.

Going to be away for work for a little bit, but when i get back i plan on stepping things up.....Have a few ideas which should be good for all.

Just a tip for pain in the ass little places....get LONG but narrow needlenose pliers, like the type jewellers use...get another pair with a 90 degree kink right near the end.

With the length, you can approach from an angle you never thought of...or put your head between your hand/handle so you can get right in and watch.

Saved my skin (literally) many times working on cars etc, going for wire harness connectors, linkages, tough to reach vac/fuel lines, spring clamps etc.

Cheap as chips.

Repairs continued

Finally back from working overseas and my hand is well enough so I can do some decent work on the bike.

So from where we left off, Needed to change the throttle cables since they got damaged at the handlebar end.
This turned out to be a absolute pain in the ass, everything has to be removed so you can get down to the throttle bodies.
Then you need to be able to fiddle the cables with absolutely no room.
I ended up removing the main injector rail just so i could get enough room to re-install the cables.

So after that drama you can reinstall the air box

Then the Venturies can go back in

Then you can put the top back on and drop the fuel tank back down

Now for the side of the engine. I had a big hole punched into the right side casing from the crash knobs. Pulled the side cover off to have a look for any damage or bits floating in there.

It was all clean, no bits or signs of any metal. Pulled out the oil filter and that was also clean.

But just to make sure I decided to remove the sump. All clean as can, I'm now a happy chappy.

So this is what the bottom of a engine looks like.

So clean up the sump, apply some gasket goo and put it all back together.

New engine cover put back into place.

All done for today.

Going to let all the gasket goo set overnight, then it's fill her back up with oil, and put some new coolant in and see if she fires back up.
I suspect all the missing metal bits ended up being flushed back on the track since most of the oil got flushed out of the punctured hole.

She's alive....
Yes, now i've got a camcorder...so videos will be coming as soon as I learn to work this thing better.
Hoping to post some basic video's to help everyone out with do it yourself simple mods.
Photos are still better for capturing the moment.
