Change to Low Dust Pads for the VW

The missus has a VW Polo and in typical Euro style the wheels are black with brake dust after a week. I want to change the pads to "low dust" or "dustless"

Thinking of Bendix General CT, Link here: GCT Pads

They have Stealth Advanced Technology ... got know idea what that is ... so they must be good, right!

Has any one used these pads? Any other suggestions?

Yeah, the Bendix General CT pads are pretty good as far as dust goes.
I put some of the Ultimate pads in first, but swapped them out for the General CTs inside a couple of thousand km (6 turbo ute). The Ultimates made heaps of dust and squealed all the time, unless you really worked the brakes for a few corners in a row.

Low-dust brake pads get discussed on car forums all the time.

The current low-dust champion seems to be the Hawk Performance ceramic pads. That's what I'll be using when I put Brembo calipers on my taxi.

Apparently, ceramic pads produce a lot less brake dust, without destroying the disc rotors. And the dust is white, not black, so it doesn't show up on the wheels as much. The part number will have a z in it to indicate it's ceramic.

Go to Hawk Performance Brake Pads: Race Proven, Street Legal and look up your car. You can get the pads mail order from the US, or ask around and you'll find them in Perth. I can't remember right now who the Perth distributor is - PM me if you have trouble finding out.

One place to contact is Race Brakes Sydney. Speak to Matt there, he's known as being one of the politest and most brake-knowledge people in the history of the world. The phone number there is (02) 9609 1101.
One owner. Only driven gently on Sundays. Sold to best offer. First to see will buy. Reward offered for safe return. Coming soon to a cinema near you. Available for a limited time only.

My waterbed broke this morning. Oh, I don't have a waterbed. Bugger.

So Big Tim, with the General CT pads ... how long would the wheels stay reasonably clean after washing?

Thanks Phildo, I'll check out the Hawks as well.

I know if you ask Mercedes they can supply brake pads that make white dust, never asked into it much but from what Phildo said they must be ceramics.

A week you say, my liberty came with Brembos factory and shit I dont get 2 days of clean wheels. Shame, It also has some nice lightweight forged enkei rims factory too.

The dark dust is popular feature in Europe as it shows how awesome your brakes are apparently. Friggin backwards twats... no wonder all the EU is goin down the sink.

To be honest, I barely notice them getting dirty at all. I just went and had a look, and there's that little dust on them, the only way I could tell was by wiping a section, then you could see a slight difference.
I'm not that particular with car cleanliness, though.
