looking great mate, the tail section is really cool. At the start i had some reservations about the mono shock rear suspension, cos thats not very retro looking, but perhaps thats not what you are after? you said you wanted to something different, that KTM you posted in the cafe thread is like nu skool cafe, you after a similar result? Its a blank canvas now, what colour frame and tank are you going for? Anyway, much respect & keep up thr good work, cheers val

    thanks val,
I am not really phased either way with the mono shock or with more traditional style shocks but I think it will be different, which was my main aim...
If I ended up with something like that KTM I would be stoked, but i think this one lacks the technology and budget to come close to it, so this will be like a slightly modern cafe racer hehe

Colour wise I am still tossing up between a few options...I could go and get a nice quality coloured scheme or stick with more conservative colours...not sure yet.
I would love to get the frame and everything else powdercoated black, and maybe get MirrorChrome paint on the tank and seat to mimic polished aluminium, will see closer to the day!

If you want the old look with your modern gear, you might want to go for the the rat rod style with darker colours and bright highlights, drawing attention away from your flash new gear. Otherwise you could go for more modern glossy/shiny look which would also draw attention to the paint job and overall look rather than the parts too. Just keep everything kind of too one theme, can't go wrong hey.

That bike is looking pretty sexual already.

Thanks Pricey, I will definitely get a paintjob that does it justice, though will probably do it myself as I dont have the dollars to pay someone else, plus my old man has all spray painting set up at home...just need to choose the colours and pay for the paint...

Any other suggestions on colour are appreciated...

hi and welcome from the pics, where your bum is in relation to the swingarm pivot you should be looking at the sky a fair bit ...a good build,
but you need a longer lower tank...say rd 400 coffin tank would look scmick

    Thanks Ritza,
I should be leaning forward enough to offset the weight at the back, plus there is not really enough power to be of any danger, but it should be pretty easy to get the front wheel up a bit

In terms of the tank, I quite like the one that is on there at the moment, and if I were to swap it, it would likely be for a BMW style tank methinks, I am not too much of a fan of the smaller, squarer tanks unless the tail section suits...

There is a nice example in the Cafe Racers thread of the squarer tank and tail, should be last or second last page...

Nice job so far Lorenz, Rastas has done a great job on the rear end for you! Old school paint job would be black frame and silver tank maybe with gold pin stripes
Looking forward to the final product, great work.

just to be difficult i quite like the idea of monoshock on a cafe , just to be different /modern no need to stick to any ''rules''

sorry lorenz, didn't mean to be a downer, ya right, there are no rules as was pointed out. Ive got a digital dash & an analogue tacho on my honda caff. Very unretro but thats what I wanted.

    crip ons

Got some nice Tarozzi clip ons

If anyone wants the old club man style bars PM me, they go cheap cheap!

I have come up with a wicked idea for my top triple clamp...more to come when I start fabricating it...

Time has been a bit thin on the ground lately for me, so have not started re-wiring yet, hopefully get it out of the way this weekend! Most likely start shaping the seat this weekend too...stay tuned
