Bought a few goodies to get things moving again, freed up some funds with the sale of the GPZ so ordered some new EBC brake shoes for the rear, a new Motion Pro push pull throttle kit and a new Magnum 38" braided brake line for the front disc.
My first thing will be to redo the throttle assembly, then tackle the issues with the engine.

Basically, it is idling quite high and blowing a bit of white smoke (I just did an oil change) so my initial thoughts are that it is getting some side air after the carby...if so, will see if it is just a case of replacing the rubber carby inlet with a new one as I noticed a small crack...

Anyways, will update when I get cracking.

No definite plan on the paint yet, have always thought black but might do something a little odd ball..
Engine was running sweet, oil cooler popped a fitting though and dropped oil everywhere mid run - new one has been ordered as well as a replacement throttle as the one I ordered was the wrong length.
Hoping to sink my teeth into the bike properly once these items arrive, as they have been holding me back.

Finally getting back into this project after a serious absence of travels and working on a nice HR wagon. I am injured and off work at the moment so am able to do some small tasks and took some time the other day to fit the new throttle cables and also fit and plumb the new oil cooler.

Forgot to get photos but will endeavour to take many as I make more progress. Most pressing for the bike will be a complete rewire and getting it to run smoothly, after which I will focus on the cosmetics more and get it ready for paint. Can't believe how long it has been since I have done something on this...

Hey Tom, long time no speak mate, should hit you up next time I am in Perth, yeah I am still down in Margaret River

I am unable to do a lot of lifting and hard work, I severed my achilles tendon and am only 6 weeks out of surgery so am moving around on crutches which makes things a bit difficult sometimes...

Here is the bike as it sits at the moment:

I have a newly acquired 40 foot container which is my project fritzl-den and I have been fitting out and should have finished soon, once this is done I will share working duties on the bike and the HR wagon I am building for my girlfriend...

This is the wagon when I picked it up in Freo:

Here it sits in the shed before I move it into its new home tomorrow:

I have a few months in it already, just rust repair mainly (pretty much every panel was rotted but I have gotten handy with my Henrob oxyacetylene welder in the process at least!) and have a bit of filler work to get it smooth as and painting soon hopefully.

This all has to go back together hmmmm

That's exactly what I did back in late October so if you want any heads up on what happens from here let me know.

Someone locally has already done that, a silver VC with a roof chop and converted to a 2 door. Was a heap of work and a ton of money, which seems silly given they were available as a factory 2 door in the US where they are worth next to nothing. Could probably import a good 2 door from the states for less than you'd pay for a rusty 4 door locally these days...

Those two door plymouths are fucken ugly though, the front end is completely different to the vc and they made no effort to make it look like a muscle car.
I imagine it would take most people a lot of effort and a ton of money but i think ill take my chances with a welder and grinder..

As happened with the LC and LJ Toranas , or the LH/LX's , people bought them and then tried to turn them into XU1's or SL/R's.

Leave the Vag as is mate as she looks pretty sweet now. Will be a better investment in the long run as a classic. Same with Chargers and XW/XY's. The standards are now getting much more attention and the retail price is moving, up while the butchered ones are going south.

Try and find a bog stock , factory HX and see how hard they are to pick up in any sort of decent nic...

The old aluminium bar that was holding my rear drum brake in place was soft as and bent which meant my rear tyre always locked and I couldn't move the bike backwards.
Decided to make a new one out of 5mm steel, should be a bit stronger.

I gave it a coat of etch primer to keep surface rust at bay until I powder coat it.

Tank was also covered in surface rust so I stripped that back and have it a protective coat too.
