    Eleanor

This is going to be a very long build indeed.
First thing´s first is stripping her back and getting all the parts I want powdercoated prepped and ready.
All parts are going in glad bags and will be cleaned, repaired and detailed.
    This starts today.

The plan is to strip her back and do her up to the level I would expect from a factory prepped bike, it already has a lot of go fast bits, just the edges need a bit of polish.

Looks like a pretty clean starting point.

It´s a sound starting point, just very tired indeed.

    These are on the wishlist.

    Possibly including the rims

And these, one for each side.

Yes, it´s an odd place for me to be!
The plan is to strip it back to components (except the motor, that´s now sound), and pack it all up into glad bags.
Then I can go through each bag one at a time and clean, detail and repair as necessary.
Then, once the frame and other parts are back from the powdercoaters I can slowly assemble her, conservatively thinking a 3 year build, realistically, 5.
    It´ll be sweet once done.

    Niiiccceee !

3 to 5 years of beer drinking and procrastination, all good projects require beer and procrastination.
If you need to send parts to Perth, I'm in Malaga and relativly handy to a lot of places (polishers, powdercoaters, etc)
    Happy to help Jim
I will proceed to drink beer and think about your job immediately

Do you think she'll ever look better than this?

"The State must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation." Adolph Hitler, Mein Kampf

I doubt it could reach such levels of mastery, but I shall try.
Tidied up outside so I have room to work, got some power, lighting and the most important part, refrigeration for soothing alcoholic refreshments.
    I'm excited!

The urge to get a wrecked 1098 and put the motor in it is quite high.

    See, that looks showroom.
Neat, minimalistic and like it´s meant to be there, I like it.
I´m after a similar look, but more factory prepped racer.

EDIT: Does the ´busa come with a hydraulic clutch, or is that custom?

So where did you find this one mate? I gather its a recent aquisition? Any significant history - it will have once you're finished either way.

She´s been around the traps, quite literally, as a race and drag bike for a number of years in a few different guises.
I bought her about 2 years ago as a rather sad and tired affair and have spent the intervening time smashing my head against a wall fixing a myriad of problems.
She definitely has a ¨hot rod¨ motor, and definitely not something you really want to ride on the street.
At least not until it hits 7K on the tacho.
Now she´s running OK*, I can finally strip it back and build the rest of the bike around the motor.

    * I had weird issues about getting her running reliably before starting the restification. Don´t ask me why.
