Hang in there Jim.
Post up a list of what needs doing or replacing.
People can then keep an eye out for you, helps a bit.
Whats at the top of the priority list?

Went through the same thing with my Norton. I really felt like the only way to go was to strip it down and build it up fresh. That would have meant a year or two off the road and a motorbike that isn't ridden isn't a motorbike anymore, it is just a clump of expensive parts.
Ride, fix what breaks, then ride it again.
In the old days, that was the way everybody did it, even with new bikes. Think of it as "The real spirit of Motorcycling!"

You can't continue your tour of Perths scenic roadsides from your garage. Just remember you have lots of friends that will bring lattes to you

Well at the moment, I have to get the main sprocket nut off (Been put on with a rattle gun ) and check out the condition of the cush drive.
I was having a think, and the wear on the rear sprocket could possibly have come from a shagged cush, or a shagged eccentric hub. If it's either, I won't be happy.
Then I need to check out the charging/starting system, then it's on to the parts that where actually missing. Neautral light switch, horn and rear brake switch (fucked if I know how it got over the pits without them).
Then whatever crops up I guess.

You will be able to see if the cush has been rubbing on the hub very easily mate. If you're not sure give me a shout out and I'll pop past and check it out

Well this morning on the way to work she clicked over 1000 kays on the clock since the work that's been done on her.
She starts without too many hassles (It's a Duc, you need to "catch" it to get her to fire over, it's a knack.)
She still has a few niggly issues that need sorting, rear brake light switch, neutral light switch and a horn need to be fitted, but I knew this when I picked her up.
She also needs the new cush drives fitted, and the upper rad hose is still leaking slightly. I also want to swap the allen bolts in my front exhaust for the factory stud and locknut arrangement. I have these parts and just need to get round to fitting them.
I also still need to pull the PCV and associated catch system off and figure out why it's pissing so much oil, I'd say the PCV has been cored, less crankcase pressure = more top end HP for racing.
Also, it's a 748R airbox with 996 throttle bodies, which means the bodies don't seal with the airbox (10-15mm gap), and there are also a few holes in the airbox that need grommets and bungs in.
I'll probably attempt these in my 3 month "Holiday" which will be here oh so shortly.
I gotta say thanks to a few people for their help with this bike, and their willingness to come over and get drunk with me whilst I spewed forth racist slander at my European vehicle.
In no particular order.
Damien from Frasers (Ducmon) - Fucking legend, helped me out with parts, advice, and hand me down baby clothes from his little boy.
BigTim - For helping me out with all manner of stuff from removing nuts in true fitter style to getting stuff ally welded. And for being Tim.
Rgvlee - Again, for tools, hands and advice, a great resource and amazing sounding board.
Nath - For helping me realise that no matter how much Italian charm you have, you still don't have to work. and that's OK.
Lee - I think he stood around and looked pretty once or twice, I need to have something so shiny around to ensure I strive for the same quality on my bikes.
Pene - For locating my lost tools/parts/beer/etc.
Rico - For helping me undo the bastard centre sprocket nut.
If I forgot anyone I'm sorry, but I don't think this saga is over just yet.
