    Garage Project Motorcycles #5 - '74 CB750 - "Mr Green"

A detailed build thread can be found here

    Garage Project #5 - '74 Honda CB750 SOHC

We call it "Mr Green" because my 4th grade teacher's name was Mr Green and he was a right bastard, always throwing chalk at me and often hitting me in the head. By the end of this build you will see why this is relevant.

    History of the bike

1974 CB750 K4 imported from the US in good condition (but not great) with less than 3,000 miles on it. It has been in storage for 20+ years.

What are the goals for Garage Project #5 - Mr Green?

    • There are thousands of SOHC CB750's that have been modified but we rarely see any that we like. There is nearly always something wrong with them. We'd like to build another show stopper that sets the blogs alight again. Just like Garage Projects #1, #2, #3 & #4
    • To put a huge smile on our faces as well as the purchaser (yep this one is for sale)
    • To push boundaries with certain aspects of the build. If people smile when looking at it, we'll have succeeded.
    • A complete ground up build where the engine will be totally overhauled and most original parts will be junked and replaced with our own custom pieces.
    • Improve the quality of the pics in this build thread compared to "The Brat"

    Parked next to Projects 6, 7 & 8

Nothing in this picture will remain

One of my favourite looking engines of all time.

While the mufflers will be junked, the headers are too beautiful so will stay.

It won't look anything like this when it's finished!

    More updates in mid October

Build-Threads.com is a great site. They featured The Brat a day before BikeEXIF.

The comic book thread is awesome, I'd love to do something like that.

The Golf thread had some fantastic photography.

We might be teaming up with Tevilspek to bring his lights and photography skills to the garage so the build thread will be as good as the bike is going to be.

Not much of an update but just getting the bike ready for rego this week. As soon as it passes, we'll get the grinder out. Replaced some fuel lines and a master cylinder, put a new battery in and starts easily and runs puuuuurfectly. Got a 4 into 1 from Carpy hanging from the garage roof that cannot wait to put on.

As we were packing up, the bike caught my eye and I thought "Are we doing the right thing chopping this bike up?"

It's a damn fine looker I reckon and the other 3 are better.

There's still heaps of them out there, and I don't believe too much of this old Jap stuff is sacred anyway. I'd chop 'em all up.

    Not really an update but....

After PSB did us the honour of allowing us to show The Brat at the Motorcycle Show, we had a couple of people interested in us building them a bike.

One would like a bigger version of The Brat and the other wanted something like this...(below)

As these CB's from Garage Company are some of our favourite bikes, we were pretty happy to take on the project. The "Mr Green" project has morphed into the above project, however I wouldn't hold my breath for updates as instead of building for ourselves, we are limited to the clients budget and time constraints.

We put drag bars on it, lowered the front suspension about 50mm and of course put new tyres on it. The new owner will probably come along for a ride with the PCR crew at some stage.

The "Mr Green" concept is still floating around our heads and when we start building one for ourselves again, I'll revive the thread.
