Good work guys. Will be good to see the end product.

barf's rims back from powder coaters- note double braced rgv swingarm in background ready for action
PRO-TECH Powder coaters 9493 3654
Charged me $65 per rim blast and coat.. i got the rims to them a day late and they got them back to me a day early and the job is flawless so big ups to those guys. Note they also do Jet-Hot (TM) Silver and Satin 1300C ceramic coatings for exhausts at barely more than powder coating, i am thinking of getting the entire exhaust done done in silver to set off the alloy swingarm and forks (which will be the only non-black on the bike).
ok is there an easy way to remove this pin striping?
tank rust removed, protected and high temp base coat on the underside.
rang rilusi (who has my frame and steering stem).. they havent even looked at the job yet let alone ordered the necessary bearings. So unless they pull a miracle out of their arse the bike wont be ready to go back together this weekend![]()
LOL rilusi. after they cocked up the job on my M model... never again unfortunately.

what do you mean cocked up?
aaron told me they were experienced at swingarm and front end modifications.
thats what kind of surprised me when i rang them and they told me they havent looked at the job yet.
the first thing they need to do is order bearings before they can start the job which is why i handballed it to them at the start of the week so i could organise all the other stuff.
i think i will drop in there and pick it up sat morning one way or the other.
I gave them the m model for a fork rebuild. Pretty easy test to see if they are as good as they say.
I offered to remove the front fairings so as to avoid damage. I was reassured everything will be fine. I made it pretty clear that I was pretty picky with the bike given that I was the second owner, it has 8ks on the clocks and it was in excellent condition.
the job took them longer than was stated. two week turnaround from drop off to completion.
the fairings were not fitted up correctly when the bike was picked up. They were fitted correctly beforehand.
the bike came back dirtier than when it was given to them. Grease and shit everywhere, and not just on the fairings they had removed to do the job. Everywhere.
incorrect fairing bolts put back on the bike. I advised when I dropped the bike off that it was missing a fairing bolt and showed them which one. I advised them to leave it be and I'll fix it up later. Instead they replace that bolt with one they've had lying around (fine), but then they replace others with bolts that are a different size to the ones that were on there when I dropped the bike off. So now I've got a mix of fairing bolts.
FORK OIL all over the front tyre. Not a small amount, we're talking mass amounts. This was inexecusable and the thing which really pissed me off. Sloppy, unprofessional and unsafe.
I called aaron at the time and mentioned the above, he apologised but at the end of the day the due care and attention that was on several occasions assured to me was not delivered. I can deal with dirty hand prints and taking a bit longer to do a job, but sloppy work and poor attention to detail is not the way to run a business so I took my business elsewhere. Hence me doing all the work on my own bikes now.

hmm ok
i just gave them another call to discuss what 'not looked at means' apparently they have ordered the bearings and are waiting for them to come in. I will drop in Sat anyways, since i am now ready for the frame- to strip off and convert surface rust and preassemble with the swingarm.
I have a RZ front stem end minus legs here plus some body parts back and side panels.

those stickers need heating up gently {hot air gun..aprox $30 from bunno's}and put a fingernail under the edge and lift slowly peeling back gently while keeping them warm.
if you get your tounge in the right place and the heat right no glue residue will be left.
if there is glue residue left use prepsol {avail at most car shops}to remove it. simply wet/soak the residue with prepsol leave it a min and scrape your nail gently over it..
bingo, its gone and done just like a professional
oops, if its under the clearcoat smash it off with a sander with 180 grit paper
professionals do that too![]()
What is this going to be?
a Mad Max bike??
How did you go with protecting the machined hub faces on the wheels?
Need to get that done shortly.
No amount of genius can overcome a preoccupation to detail.

the dudes at Pro-Tech cover the machined faces and block it all off before they blast and coat. All you need to do is remove the bearings and give them the rims.
Mad max bike? i am not sure what that is, my project goal is to end up with the same thing Ritza350 has so far as RGV front and swingarm and decent tyres.. i want it to handle nicely. i dont plan to do anything with the motor for now, except getting it running nicely.
thanks for the tips for removing the stickers, i have some prepsol will give it a go.

$130 for both wheels? That's dirt cheap
After ths dismal failure that was my el-cheapo paint job, I'm thinking of chinese ebay fairings, repainting the tank and colouring the wheels.

gozer, do you know if pro tech do chrome-look powder coating?
I've seen swing arms done in chrome look powdercoat as an alternative to polishing or plating, it is sensational.
