    Helmet Design?

I thought this was the most relevant section to post this thread so here goes hahaha!

I was thinking of getting this Shark helmet with a certain design. The back is a tad plain and I have this quote I would like to get on there to cover up the 'plainess' of it.

Does anyone know of any places that does any kind of art work on helmets?

If it's relatively cheap then I was thinking of getting a plain coloured helmet and putting my own design on there.

Thought there was a PSB'er down in Esperance that had airbrushed a few helmets, but it's been a while.

Anybody with an airbrush and talent will be able to do some paintwork, or you could have vinyl stickers made.

I'm pretty sure it's expensive and not worth customising it. You should just buy one with a graphic you like, or live with the usually crappy designs shark helmets come with.

Hahaha yeah! This is the Shark one I was looking at altering:
    helmet S900 GLOW Silver Black Silver S900 Sport/route SHARK-HELMETS - UNITED KINGDOM - English

Other than that the other designs I'm liking are in the Shoei range.

u can get stickers cut for pretty cheap , place in rockingham city does 100mm x 30mm i think for $17 . u just take in your design. although thats 1 colour to have multicolours i think ud have to get them printed and i dont know the price for that. but for wording or shapes sticker cutting is fine.

Stretchy vinyl can be had - but the back of a helmet is pushing your luck for anything but really small stickers. Have a bit of a search around for "airbrushing" and "helmet". I know there was a guy working out of the e-shed markets in Freo that did this stuff, and that Shortfuse was having a crack a while ago. Happy hunting!

I've done a few customised helmets with vinyl now, from plain helmets with what ever design was requested (sponsorship in this case)

I've also customised my own helmets for that added effect as well......

    from this:

    to this

    It's pretty easy to do......

Noice! How do you go with bigger blocks rather than the skinny stuff? Is the vinyl stretchy enough now?

    @ BlackFZR:

With the design on your Shark helmet you went somewhere and got them to do it (Name?) or did you do it yourself?

Sorry i'm not catching on, uni is currently corrupting my mind with information.

CS. Bigger blocks can be done, it just takes a bit of fine tuning. If it was a plain helmet its easier, but as (hopefully) I can show in the next week or so, matching current designs is possible as well

Jasminee. I do this myself. I'm a sponsor here on PSB, and I work in doing vinyl signwriting, custom decals etc.. there is a little bit of work i've done around the site, including the replicating and applying the decals for the 2009 MAD R1, quiet a few racebikes currently competing up at wannaroo, as well as the more mundane such as the PSB stickers, and vehicle decals etc......

That makes you somewhat more qualified to do this kind of work, me thinks.

Jasmineee: that was the helmet i was going to get! hmmm... I think it looks fine the way it is imo

Jas, have you actually tried them on (Shark & Shoei)?? They might not even fit you properly, you need to try on as many brands (and models) as youcan and get the one that is snug and doesn't pinch your forehead, ears etc, but must still be snug so that it moves with you when you shake your head from side to side i.e. be pressing your cheeks in and firm

Get to as many bike shops as you can and try them for fit.

I used to have both brands, but have gone to HJC as they have one model that fits me properly

Precisely what I was just thinking. Find the brand/model that fits and then look within that range.
As for shit graphics, come back to me if your unlucky enough to have an Arai skull like mine! Now THERE'S some shit graphics!

    *EDIT*
Oh - and BlackFZR does some top notch work. He's done a few things for me, including a couple of unusual requests!

I'm sure this has been said many different times to you, including when you go shoe/hand bag / clothes / earing shopping......

You have to be happy with what you are wearing. Your favourite colours are different to everyone elses, and what you consider to be cute or cool, is another persons hate.

    Please choose the design yourself.
