    honda CBX 250 cafe project

ok so i have a 1987 honda cbx 250, and i wont it to be a cafe racer comuter 2 and from work.
it is my second project next to my volvo 360 GLT 1984 witch takes precedence so it will be a resnobly slow project and i also have friends and family with projects so my time for my projects suffers, also i dont have much money for this project.

so far i have striped a hole bunch of stuff off the bike and i have started buying things for the bike.
    here is how it started

this is where it sat after i got it for 2 months

    ugly bracket!!!

this is it up on the bech in my grage

these are some grips that i had left over there the same as my mums 250 aprillia city sport scooter

this is one ugly wiring loom (i have a friend who will redo all that for me)
this is how it sits for now

this is the tank i bought thanks Lorenz

    and the indercaters

    thats it for now.
    any input would be great.
    cheers

i went and looked at it some more and i think the back of the frame is a bit bent. ill have to look into it some more later.
i also need some bar end mirrors coz my bars are kinda short and i don't think there is any where for other kind of mirrors.
on the week end i am going to get a dremal rotary tool witch should be fun and help me cut off lots of useless stuff
i also might be able to get a ducati muffler off my girlfriends dad it looks kinda like this one

what do you guys think so far and how do i bend the frame back into shape if it is bent?:s

nice looking bike dude, this thing will make a cool cafe racer. nice to see a different starting point too

i agree that something is not quite with that back end though. hard to say how bad it is without being able to look at it but if you need your frame aligned i'd suggest finding someone with some jigs set up for this sort of stuff. rastas on here could no doubt help you out but not if you're in melbourne. i'm sure someone will have some contacts though.........peeps??

Back of the frame you mean the section above the rear wheel? if so get a long bit of wood and someone heavy to sit on the bike. wedge it in between the poles either side and bend.

Oh dear... I had a CBX250 for a first bike. Poor old thing had about the same level of go as a pushy, and didn't handle or stop either. But I had fun on it. Enjoy the build, and if you want to spruce up that single, it's the same as an old XR250 motor - you can get overbored pistons etc for them.
The Edge, there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

If you want, I know a guy who can possibly straighten you're frame. He is down in Heidelberg, but he doesn't do it for just anyone. I wouldn't advise doing it with a bit of wood..

Send me a pm if you are keen.

It would probably be easier if you mocked up a seat base with sheet metal as its easier to work with and get symmetrical rather then foam if you are going for the normal cafe seat.
i thought bikers were supposed to be kool.

I think its too bent to worry about as a fix it for a cafe
so i think ill leave it as a long term project and hard tail bobber it because the back is the only part that's bent and i will chop it and add
    a proper hard tail kit.

also thinking of getting this as my learner bike?
    any opinion's>

I find same bike and need to find the whole front wheel with disk.

Any idea where to find it?
