    Honda CBX250 Bunky build

well i havent posted a rebuild for a couple of years but im back. this is the latest, this bike has an xl/xr250 engine with electric start. i remember thinking they are a classic girls bike when they came out but 20 years later i recon it will be a lot of fun. step one put it back together and get i licenced. it has be dismantled for quite sometime, i suspect someone was going to do it up but lost interest.

Looks like a good little project. Going to split the cases?

    progress 01

Started putting everything back together. Airbox, starter relay etc. The tail went together fine and surprisingly all the bolts were in the little bag that came with the bike, although a bit rustey i cleaned them up and put them all in ther right spots. will conect up a battery and squirt some aerostart in, see if i cant get a couple of bangs out of it today.

Other thoughts on the bike is to pop on a xl 350 cylinder and head for a bit more oomph. they are the same engine just a bigger bore. I saw in a pommy mag years ago where someone had fitted an xr600 motor into a cb 250 rs (which is an xl250 motor) so perhaps and xl/xr 600 motor would be the go, however im a bit over the big kickstart singles but i know the 85 xl600 was elect start. MMMMMMmmmm the possibilities.

Seemes to be a fair bit of talk about these at the moment. mine will be the perfect FNR machine. Got it cranking over yesterday but still spark eludes me. I need to inspect the stator.

    found spark

found the spark, the send pickup was not pluged in. the sensor wire should have been blue with a white line but it was plain blue, so i thought the wire coming out the right side of the engine was an oil pressure switch as all the instrument lights have a comon blue. I should have known though as there is no oil light on the dash.

Reading this with interest as I have one of these in parts in the shed that I bought for my young bloke a couple of years ago. Think I will "cafe" it though. I like the thought of the 350 conversion. Would like to get some spoked wheels for it, does anyone know if the RS250 ones drop straight in?
