To modify or to leave stock

I have an original 84 GPZ 1100ZX the only thing un original on it is the exhaust the bike was just move back to Perth from the Eastcoast where I had been living as a precaution I removed the fairing, ducktail, blinker etc when done I stood back and the bike looked awsome and straight away started having thoughts of a cool retro streetfighter, high rise bars, Ktm twin lights some updated upside downers etc.

But my wife said I would be crazy to modify it as it was beautiful just the way it was, would love to hear other peoples opinions do I leave it stock as a piece of motorcyycling history or do I modify it feed back required.

You don't get to see too many bikes like that any more, they're slowly vanishing. Keep it stock.

Start looking on the web and get the feel for how they look modified. Do some research on costs and throw around ideas. No need to make a final decision straight away.

Could always find a cheap dead one to trial all the mods on first.

i believe your wife is on the money here. The bike is at an age that when you see a beautiful example of a stock item it shines brighter than any mod you could possibly do.

I would definately keep it stock.

Thanks guy's it seems an overwhelming responce to keep it stock so I guess my question has been answered stock it is but that leaves me with another problem now i'll have to buy something that I can play with. Will post some pics when i'm back on dry land, Jules

Buy a wreck from the auctions and street fighter it. Or see Motorcycle masters, they buy a fair few and will onsell them to you pretty cheap.

    Stock ftw!

If ya got money burning a hole how about a engine freshen up or new bearings an suspension work?

Could make it ride nicer etc but keep it stock looking still.

    Keep stock.

If you want to make it faster or whatever spend the money on a different bike. AS said, original bikes that age are hard to come by and if left original it will be a lot more special than modified.
