Good work dude, I'd love to get a project like that going!
Is the rear disk warped? looks like it on one of the photos?

Not completely sure about the brakes, didn't feel warped when i was riding it.. but that said, I'm not all that confident with the 19 year old breaking system on the bike.. so I'll probably end up replacing the disc's front and back.. and look at new calipers - and while i'm there, do the brake lines with braided ones..

not as much as i'm about to - before i've finished restoring/converting it..
Does that look like a standard monoshock to you ? I'm not familiar with such things..

wow, $248 usd.. I'm impressed.. unless that's in UK pounds !
might be time to go look for a crashed bike.. and rape the monoshock off the rear..

Bitubo do one if this is the right model.
i was quoted about $600 for a basic 2 way adjustable or $1000 for a 4 way with remote res for the mito.

I saw what you did there.. ya cheeky bugger..
and yes, the rear also has a slight flat spot from said incident... looks like i'll have to just get those rims shiny sparkling after they get back from being bent straight

If you want the back end to work anywhere near ok you will need to use a linkage off a later model zxr. L model onward the early H-K ones had some issues. I know they fit te K model not sure on the H I didn't do it to my H as I did not know about it back then.

the only problem is marty, how do you know if the shock you're buying isnt thoroughly flogged too ?
I'd hate to drop wrecker prices on a shock - only to find i need to spend another $500 having someone rebuild it..
thanks for that info tho, it's given me a target - rather than trying to modify and make brackets to the rear linkage..

Budget on a shock rebuild regardless there are heaps of them that come up on ebay I was looking at a Ohlins for my L1 last year was mint and $250us plus shipping. If you are going gang busters on mods look at the ZX7 set up I think you could fit it with a bit of battery box BUTCHERY

Wilbers are supposed to be good things in the shock department. Have yu decided what you are going to do about the intake/carbs situation yet? While you're ordeing Bitubo can you get get us some HDX00 forks for the old guzz?

the tail section plastics arrived from mckay today..
Just have to get the plastics to finish it off.. and then i can start welding brackets and chopping the frame - then it can go off to the polishers..

update: carbies and monoshock are off to neil @ proflo for quoting / rebuild and then the front forks are up for rebuild - wheels go off this week as will the radiator...
Just need the rear cowl and under plastics for that tail...
