    project 354

Having enjoyed my last project building up the R1 with druu and pokopano, we've decided to do another group project so a little bit of a chatting during the week and by week's end we picked up a cb200 package

We managed to get a regoed and running 1975 CB200 in fairly decent nick for its age. Also came with a whole spare bike as well! (seized engine) extra wheels, bottom end, forks + other bits and pieces.

    So its out with the 150hp 1000cc R1 and in with a 17hp 200cc CB200

The plan is to completely rebuild it and turn it into a cafe racer!

.. now this brings back a few memories, popular (sensible) bike in the UK when I was in my teens; otherwise it'd be two stroke madness (preferred).

Taught my girlfriend at the time how to ride on on of these.

Looking forward to seeing the resurrection.

I was wondering if something like this would be your next project, after your thread the other day about the Chabott Engineering guy, doing the jap cafe racers and choppers.

    Nice Score Guy's.
A mate of mine just picked up a 73 CB350 and has a pretty mad build planned for it.
I'll be watching along with everybody else.

Today we managed to strip the bike down and assess what needs to be done.

Our first goal is to rebuild it to a rolling chassis.

Stripping the complete bike was fairly straight forward. With the three of us we managed to get it done in around 4 hours

    engine out

model number 354 stamped onto an engine mount bracket

going at it with the angle grinder

    waiting patiently to be rebuilt

We're now waiting on the postman to deliver us a nice nitrohead style seat and a whole bunch of bearings/seals. We're also shopping for some new suspension components and rearsets.

Next task on the list is to clean up the frame/swingarm grind any unwanted bits off then blast and paint/powdercoat it.. Then onto the wheels.

hey mate, yeah sure we're looking to sell off any excess parts we don't need. We're currently taking stock of what bits we need to buy/replace so we're thinking of keeping the spares until we're 100% that we won't be needing them.

shoot me a PM if you're after particular parts and we'll see what we can work out.

Good stuff Andy. Will said you were going for the Manx look. Should be a nice build, I will watch with interest. I have 30m of black exhaust wrap that I'm happy to donate for your cause.

That Mastom Custom CB is veeeery nice. Much cooler than a Manx replica which has been done (badly) so many times before.
