well i pick up my lil project bike on wednesday.... YAY!!!!

as by the thread name u can see i am having issues deciding a name for it....

picking up an 1989 GPX 250 with bout 8000kms on the motor and 36000kms on the chassis.

guy who im getting it off attempted to fighter it himself and now im goin to save it....

the list:
has custom jet kit from the states with a pods,
crap ass fighter headlight which will be up for grabs,
shorty exhausts with heat wrap,
custom tail light,
indicator mirrors,
and other stuff.

To do:
1. tail conversion
2. new headlight setup
3. fix wiring
4. new paint job when tail done
5. get running smooth and service
6. bling

i think that is all i can think of atm

oh and its still licenced! YAY!!!!

deposit down on a new tail and subframe, new fuel lines and filter.

tank prep for paint.

Looks like an interest project indeed, reminds me of spuddy's gpx!

Oh, and thanks a lot for offering a lending hand with my bike, even if I got it working myself, I really appreciate the gesture and effort to give a lending hand.

yeah xuaxace i do have my R-E, had it almost 4 yrs

well picked up my tail section and dummy fitted it with a step bros help....



next week i will be ordering a whole heap of goodies off ebay which i cant wait for ay!

does anyone know if the petrol tank valve is gravity or vacuum fed on the gpx?

Fuel is gravity fed but the tap is vacuum switched so fuel will only flow when the engine is running. The vac line is the second smaller connector on the fuel tap that connects to the carbs on the engine side after the throttle bodies.

bought some steel to start the sub frame connection....

well i now have some frame support structure going in, just 2 more peices of tubing and then its time to weld the bad boy....

well i have yet another update but this is the major part of this project done n the rest is actually quite simple....

and my frame is welded, straight and stronger than from factory....





last pic is for a bit of a giggle but only time u will prob see the bike like this....



ordered plenty of parts over the net like lights, relays, gear display and more....

ok picked up new battery, ran new fuel lines and new filter, put fuel tank back together and put 2 litres of fuel in and bam....

fuel tank has a hole in it somewhere and is leaking!!!!

sourcing new tank as we speak unless someone on here has one laying around i can have or purchase????

update is, bought another tank, custom seat made and finished, put back together and now im onto the wiring.
