    Project Trailer!

    Alright!

Scenario: I'm moving to broome, with out a car, but i have a motorbike!
i aquired a John papas 6X4 trailer, fairly good nick. which im going to use to tow my bike up north.

i have also aquired 9 X 25X25X2400 tube steel and a sheet of welded mesh!

Goal: to build a cage for the trailer! and general maintenance

    Tools:
im borrowing a tig welder, and have very little experience, but will have someone with a little more experince around.
    angle grinder
    socket set
    drill

Questions: does anyone have a good plan for the cage? i dont wan to weld the frame to the trailer, just bolt it.
and i might need to leave the front with out some cage ans i think my bikes a little long

any easy way of telling what bearings i need?

tips on de-rusting.? i will be using rust converter-primer-rustguard

    anything else?

    Dom

Don't go with plans from others, make the design reflect your needs. If you are unsure go to a trailer sales yard and have a close look at the caged trailers on display to get some ideas.
Intelligence and education are three sides of the same coin.

Bearings. Take the bearing out you need and take it to a bearing shop. I dont recommmend CBC, there a rip off. If ur close i go to Apollo Bearings and Transmissions in Malaga just off malaga drive. There cheap and good. If not then just google bearing shops near u and ring around. I saved about 100 bucks going to apollo.

As for the rust converter, great stuff but also nasty. Be careful and wear gloves. Its real nasty shit. Your options are rust converter, grinder and sand paper. Get some wet n dry and work those arms. If u want to take the easy route then get a flapper disc and u will have that rust of in 2 seconds. I would do up a plan to suit your needs. Not sure if there are certain rules and regulations on trailers so you might want to do some research on that too.

    Good luck.

Is it licensed already, or will it need to go over the pits?
