Ok i figure since its a Thursday night and im bored, I would finally write up about my build.
I have a specific look that i want to achieve with this bike, and its hard to explain, so you will just have to wait and see what it is
Ive been fightering it for a few of months now but i have finally worked up the energy to take some pics/do a write up of it now.
Bike is a 2001 R1 and it was a blue stocker when i bought it. Since then I have painted it and done some work to it.
Constructive criticism/ideas is welcome
List of things ive done so far:
- Re-painted the radiator (it was looking a bit shabby) and put on an "R1" stencil into it.
- Got bar-ends
- Got some lights from AUSFR
- chucked some decent indicators on there to get rid of the big uglies
- Made up some brackets for the dash (looks shitty, i plan to make better ones soon)
- Cut the muffler down so its shorter for the terry tuff cunt look!
- Rim stripes
- -1 sprocket on the front
- Re-organised all the light/dash/indicator wiring along with all the other little wires that go somewhere
- Got the exhaust sand blasted and painted it silver with the heat resistant paint.
- Relocated the stock overflow bottle to underneath the tank, inbetween the block and airbox (fits nice n snug in there and its out of sight)
- Relocated the horn to mount just behind the radiator.
- Painted crank case cover gloss black
Excuse the dirty bike, it hasnt been washed for a while. Original plan was to go for the cafe fighter sorta look, but ive changed my mind and am going with the dirty bars and a bit more of an agressive look instead.
Plans for the near future:
- Fit all my new parts when they arrive (next week) Waiting on top yoke with fatbar risers, black billet fuel cap and body, extended clutch cable, braided brake lines and some other bits n peices.
- The paint is currently satin black, but its seen better days, looks like ill be repainting it a gloss black.
Plans for distant future:
- Possibly doing a half-bobber on it, so basically cut the back end of the subframe. Im planning to shorten it by maybe about 5 inches (from the lights, to the end of the pillion seat) so basically the tail lights are right behind the pillion seat. I need to plan this a bit more before i commence though.
- Powder coating the frame black.
Anyway enough dribbling and heres some pics.
