    rd350lc p5 racebike build

Well this has been going on for a few months now, but I decided to post it up now.

The motor is going to be mostly stock for now, with the oil pump removed along with kick starter sprawl, have some race chambers and I will be making up some removable head inserts when I get some spare time

I will be building a spare "hot" motor with tz350 barrels when I get some more money (see 2 years when I finish my apprenticeship ).

Frame is going to be braced, running a 4130 swing-arm when I get around to making one, Wilbers or nitron rear shock, 38mm forks from an fzr 400 or possibly an old Suzuki or Honda (I'm still searching for these, or any forks 35-38mm if you have any), and I have got a set of astralights for it from England! Running brembo f08 calipers on the front and an rg250 rear caliper

I apologize in advance for all the shitty photos

I started off buy purchasing a rolling frame for $150 that I have salvaged a few bits and pieces off.

Then I got a frame and 2 motors missing various bits and pieces from Sydney.

Bottom end back together and painted, all gearbox bearings replaced new seals etc and a rebuilt crank.

Took the one of my frames into work yesterday to replace a lower rail and straighten the frame. Cut out the offending tube, turned up an internal bung for one end and made an external sleeve for the other end.

    In the jig.

    The offender!

It twanged only a little so that made me happy.

    New tube in.

The wheels (one already has had the anodizing stripped and been straightened).

i thought bikers were supposed to be kool.

This is a long term project, due to how expensive everything is!

Aiming to get it done for 2012 island classic.

Will be making a start on bracing the frame this weekend once I get a katana frame out of here.

Nice, make sure you upload a build thread!

Mate of mine has a vj21 41mm front end which I'm getting off him next Monday.

Won an auction for a pair of 34mm mikunis for $200.

Have to love the strong Aussie dollar!

Didn't get much done this weekend as I had heaps of work on, just a bit more cutting on the frame and started to notch up the tubes for bracing. Photos tomorrow night.

TZ350 barrels? Surely you mean RZ350 barrels?
No amount of genius can overcome a preoccupation to detail.

probably because TZ parts are dear and getting hard to get (unless you have a secret stash )

I got the tz barrels fairly cheap for $100 requiring new nikasil bores but thats it, also have a few pairs of pistons for it.

Details of the outer sleeve for replacement lower rail

Replaced tube welded up apart from sleeve

    Tube at rear tacked up

As she sits now, a bit shorter and lighter.

Yeah the 2 inner webs are new and my mate polished the outer as it was rusty.

The nsr cages will fit.. just not the stock barrels. A bit of cutting and welding is involved .

    They are enormous
