Very thorough, thanks for going into detail for us![]()
Nice, bet you lose a shit ton of power(20%?) with the lower compression ratio, but the turbo should more then likely fix that :p
Success is nothing more then taking advantage of an opportunity.

Fackin magic bike mate. It's gonna be a frisky little beast. I haven't read the whole thread so sorry if I'm stating the obvious/already done, but I highly recommend stretching the budget to a quality shock or revalve, to help you get the best drive you can. The Ohlins I put in mine was one of the most dramatic improvements I made.![]()
Agree totally - power doesn't mean a lot if you cant put it down! Fortunately, I used to race this bike (when I had more money), so it already has a steering damper, .95 kg springs in the front, revalved suspension front and rear, increased shock length and forks raised through the triple clamps. As well as the obligatory PC3, Roo pipe and sprocket changes - though the later will almost
certainly need changing to a lower ratio after this, lol

man great work!!! gotta love the sound of a turbo! pushhhtcant wait to see the final result!
Yep, you've got the package man. She's giong to rip!
Nice project mate. Keep the updates coming.
Man I can't wait to see how this turns out
So awesome. Once you have finished yours we can start on mine.![]()
any updates mate?
Nah, nothing of note since last post. Playing around with changing the exhaust header design, and the aluminium for the intake, intercooler and piping has arrived. Also considering the idea of rebuilding the engine in preparation for the turbo, and maybe finding lower compression ratio pistons, maybe different cams - but every piston manufacturer apart from Yamaha seems to make them to increase the CR only. But apart from that, been far too busy to find much bike time.
I got married the weekend before last, and the wife probably wouldn't have been too happy if the day after our wedding I was back in the shed, lol
This weekend was her birthday, and to add to all that we are right in the middle of our course's final exams, plus we're starting to pack up the house to move to Sydney in 2 weeks time! I doubt I'll get anything else done on the bike untill we have moved and settled in a bit...

yeah, but you know that was probably only so she could get you out of the house, and spend time plotting shit with melle
Cheers mate
I'm still trying to get used to the weird feeling of wearing a ring... though it does fit under my glove, so thats a start!

Updates ?![]()
I imagine the response will be: "Still getting married, still broke..."
Lol! Yeah, I should have listened whem they tried to warn me!I imagine the response will be: "Still getting married, still broke..."
Well, im still trying to figure out exactly how to get the fueling right - will probably keep the power commander and reprogram it with new injectors. The stock pump will keep up just fine, and new injectors gets rid of the need for a high pressure pump and regulator. This will also mean the wiring, fuses and stock fuel level sensor won't need messing with (although on the flip side, the fuel rail and stock injector plugs may).
Just found out that apparently powercommander make a ignition timing adjustment module that is supposedly pretty much a plug in job to the PC3 - this should sort more problems out on that front.
Headers still need welding, though they are tacked up, and the intake needs fabricating, but I have the aluminium for it. As part of my trade training, I get sent to different workshops to get different sign offs for my trade papers - so to keep the costs down, welding is waiting for me to go to a welding workshop, as I don't have a tig to do stainless or ally myself at home. Though I'm getting a little jack of waiting, maybe I'll end up paying someone to do it!
Apart from that, I've decided to keep the engine as stock with the exception of the copper head gasket - so thats all done, and with the exception of the engine running a bit lean right now, as far as I'm concerned that side of it is pretty much good to go.
Still need to buy the oil lines and coolant lines for the turbo, but that seems pointless untill the headers are welded and fitted to the bike. Also, need to save up some more money for them because believe it or not, at the moment, they seem to be one of the more expensive components of the project so far.
And thats about all the progress I've made lately!
A lot is waiting for the headers to be welded before work can progress, with the exception of injectors and fueling which is waiting for $$$...
