Hopefully and that has been the plan, hard to find sponsors without a history...

I thought i would start researching race fuels to run, I have come to the conclusion that yet again, Australia is screwed for anything when it comes to performance goodies.

    For example, here in Australia,

    1) SUNOCO MAX NOS 116, 205LT $1,790.81 AUD
    VPW Performance Mailorder

    2) VP C16 - 205 Litre $1400.00 AUD
Racing Performance Works - VP Racing Fuels

Now the same products in the US,

    1) SUNOCO MAX NOS 116, 205LT $516.00 USD / $574.00 AUD
    Sunoco Max N.O.S (116 Octane-Leaded-Oxygenated) 55 Gallon Drum

    2) VP C16 - 205 Litre $625.00 USD / $695.00 AUD
VP Racing Fuels: C16 54 Gallon Drum :: Extreme Motorsports

God knows what would be required to import the stuff, and i guess that could be part of the inflated cost. Hopefully i can get it cheaper through work, if not anyone want to sponsor some fuel? hahah

To do the sums thats about $122 a tank for C16 , Thankfully the bike will be tuned for Pump fuel on the street.

    Pfff.

That's not so bad... The Volvo cost 85 to fill, and that's do about 400kms with conservative driving. The busa can do 400km/h at only 1.5x the $$$...

I know which one I'd choose

*cough* I dont think this particular busa would be quite so frugal some how.

you are going to need a pretty good filter to avoid having the turbo suck in bushes, animals and small children

    this thing is a beast!

Frugal or not, 10 seconds of 400km/h would be enough to make it worthwhile.... That be Bugatti Veyron land...

edit: My point still stands Tys. The Veyron runs out of fuel in 12, and that's a 100L tank!!!

Lets do some sums on that,

Most will use 4 litres in a salt run, take about 2 minutes on the throttle.

So 2 liters a minute with an 18 litre tank gives you 9 minutes. or about 60km's

Also don't get me wrong i'm happy to pay what i have to for the right fuel, my complaint was more over how much extra it is to get things in Australia.

Also, found an onboard cam from a 250mph run on a turbo busa. If i remember correctly, steve missed the record by 1 mph. It's a long time to keep the throttle pinned

At that kind of speed aerodynamics and drag coefficients are going to play a huge part in your top speed... any special pieces/designs you are implementing to stay as slippery as possible?

Lots of lead, and Airtech/Catalyst Landspeed Upper and lower Fairing.

Here's the current record holders bike. He holds both the Aus and US records. Not too much has changed bodywork wise.

Tyson, all those pic's give me a tingly feeling in my man bits... But what is it that you think sets you/your bike apart from those that have attempted this before ? is it monster horsepower ? do you have a specific strategy ? or is it just for fun ? it certainly doesn't look like a half hearted attempt so I'm interested in your inspiration.

No need, remember the busa's are designed with a wind tunnel for best possible aerodynamics.....

Mainly the horsepower over the others, The bike above only has about 400hp. More hp means we can carry more weight. Strategy? Apart from taking in everything that the current big guns recommend I'm on my own. Luckily there are a few of them on some other forums I'm on.

I have always loved going fast, be it in a car or on a bike I never grew tired of the rush that come from accelerating to high speeds. Unfortunately in the current climate, pushing the busa to 310 down the kwinana fwy can lead some pretty severe punishments. The only other options was to do it competitively, so here i am

Is ram air simply not feasible with those kind of speeds with the stock intake designs?
