    Un Fighter

Wanted the old slingy back to being a sports bike. So I ditched the Crosser bars and stuck the clipons back on and a set of fairings off a 2004 gsxr.

It's an 88 750, it's the whole back end off the r1, subbie exhaust and suspension, k6 600 wheel.

How do the little projectors in the ram air ducts go? Do they throw out enough light?

Looks good mate, you could do all sorts of things from here.
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

Buy my stuff, everything now half price - http://www.perthstreetbikes.com/foru...woofer-144818/

It is one of two lights off a street legal acerbis fighter fairing. They have e stamps and throw out plenty of light. Don,t confuse them for those shite cheapo "super cheap" copies that run downlight bulbs. The other is a small oval high low type. Not entirely happy with the headlight yet. Might graft in something different.

I'd be really interested in how this thing rides, what forks are on it? With that ancient old chassis mated to the updated suspension I imagine it would still be a bit of a pig?

Have you thought of apporaching Rapid or giving it to someone like Trevor Hedge to do a write up on?

Not a pig at all, that frame is stiff and light, all R1 at the back (as in the whole back half) and 2003 tls 1000 at the front means it handles much better. If you think about it I have transfered the suspension from th 2006 r1 not modified some thing to fit. So the back handles like an r1 as all the mounting/ pivot points are exactly the same. I am a member of a website where this type of thing is common and it's been done a few times. The front well thats even more simple.

You are only going to notice the extremes of any bike on the race track anyhow, and the slingshots were not considered pigs in the first place.
    Rapid would be so lucky!

Thats a clever piece of kit you've made mate. Good choice of bodywork, works well together. It's amazing that parts so far apart in years and models are so compatable.

^^ some people won't like it, thats cool. If I wanted some thing like everyone elses I would have just gone and bought an R1 or a ducati, it would have probably been easier and cheaper. Once it has a proper paint job and a few other bits and pieces sorted I still won't be happy and wedge an 1127cc motor and turbo in it or similar. I do have a spare gt28 garrett on my shed floor.

Sorry buddy, I think my post last night didn't accurately reflect what I meant. I'm really interested in how the relationship between the old chassis and the new suspension works, and I'd love to see it tested by someone unbiased with a bit of knowledge testing bikes.

Nahh, I have others. I want a harris frame or a tubular frame . Probably cheaper to get one tigged up locally.

I have another oil boiler motor and a turbo....who knows.

I can have the slingshot back in fighter mode in a matter of minutes

So far on this site I have had, "looks like a junkyard" "hodge podge of parts" now " a bit of a pig" at leat it's not out of a box.

    Hows your gixxer?

I didn't see it but no offence would be taken. The swingram pivots off the original gsxr spindle. All the other (two) points are the same measurements as and R1 (or it would not fit). So it has the R1 linkages and shock, The front is just 2003 tls1000. These old slingshot frames (older than most of the members on this site I am guessing) are plenty stiff and strong. I could get the original swingarm to flex at 90 kph coming off the freeway!

I would like to get a better r1 shock and get the tl shocks rebuilt then take it for a track day, and the front wheel from the states on with a bigger disc. And then compared to a good example, there are a few in perth Raven gsxr has one.

That looks awesome. Good job. Any further plans for it other than the front wheel and disc?
    Feels good man.
