Volvo 240GL Banger Rally Car

Hello all,

So tonight I purchased a 1987 Volvo 240GL for a princely sum (my pushbike cost me more) and am about to start prepping it for a 'cheap car rally' we will be holding on a farm south of Mandurah in 2.5 weeks.

Here she is in her current form:

This wreaks of Top Gear Challenge.

I like it. Hoping someone will be videoing and editing as such.

footage from on-board and from the paddock will be made, as well as a bunch of photos as well.


The theme for the car is going to be along the lines of a WWII bomber and will go something like:
1) Paint olive green as base coat
2) Draw angry mouth/eye on each side of car at front
3) Use thick permanant marker to draw rivet and panel marks on side of car (using door lines as natural panel lines)
4) Draw hot blonde pin-up girl on bonnet in old bomber nose art style with 'Swedish Screamer' or 'Screamin Swede' or similar there
5) Make stencils of mother+pram, cyclist and pedestrians and spray several under each front window as the 'kill tally'

more will come, but we will see how that goes as progress.
We are expecting about 8-12 people at this rally - should be rad.

I was thinking cannons either side of the bonnet, but I'm open to suggestions at this stage.

Anything to beat my brother - who just bought a dodgy EA falcon and liquid-nails'd a WRX spoiler and bonnet scoop onto the car. ahah

well, some things happenned in life which include study and a few other things that suck: so I had to tone it down a bit and keep it simple.

Here is where it is at currently, as of Sunday last week. Unfortunately we had no newspaper or anything else to help mask beyond the tape, so were stuck trying to block out the white racing stripes with a couple of strips of cardboard... didn't work so well but cbf fixing it and really don't have time right now.

Aha cheers... yeah they saw a couple of falcon rims in the sub-division opposite (along with a bunch of ripped up dirt from some circle work), saw the horrible bunky-spec ford POS in your driveway... rubbed their few brain cells together and managed to match it up.

He told them something along the lines of 'we got drunk and took the spare tyres and beat them with sticks down through the construction site like african children do... you know, for fun'.
It won't be long until I'm bailing him out of an overnight cell again I'm sure
