Just having another look at the photos I noticed you don't look to have the after market oil cooler fitted. the origonal 750 motor had a habit of cooking the middle pot when ridden hard without it and no problems once fitted.

Yeah I've got an oil cooler from an XS850 which bolts straight on. Have also used a Lockhart one, but decided to use the 850 one as it comes with better oil lines.
Also using a deeper sump which hangs in the breeze a bit more than the standard one. Seems to run quite well!

    Lovely bike mate.

I have an XS1100 sport (RH it was called in Australia) . Those fairings are as rare as hen's teeth.

There's a fibreglass mob in SA that make a replica, but they want $350 for them and you'd still need a screen.

Also, it's an 8 inch headlight on the 1100. Is the 750 an 8 inch too?

Interested to know what the brake discs are? EBC?

Yeah mate I know those fairings are really hard to find!! And yep the headlights are the same size. If I cant find one I might just settle with one of those generic 'Viper' fairings.

Anyways, the brake discs are just standard ones that have been bead blasted and drilled. They're actually smaller diameter (266mm) than the XS11/650 discs. (298mm or so)

You can get these discs from Yamaha XS650 Parts - MikesXS.com for about $130USD

Jeez, didn't think about MikesXS - they look nice too.

I am going to put goldspot calipers on the XS11, but I can retain the original discs. Those MikesXS ones would look sweet.

quokka perhaps, gumtree, depends on what size you bike you want

a cafe ''should'' be 1 or 2 cylinders but 3 or 4 are cool, and ideally aircooled - less plumbing to mess up the idea.

an old duc might be cool but fussy, an old guzzi might be the go , but really even a 550 zephyr would look the goods if done right, likewise old cb or xs of some sort.

If you get an XS mate there's a plethora of people on here with one, you'll have enough of a support base

Well its been a while since I last updated this thread, I haven't done much with the Triple or even ridden it for a little while.
So its time to give it a bit of a Birthday!!!

Ideas have changed in the last 4 years (has it really been that long??) and there's a couple of things I'd like to do a bit better.
Theres a few things that didn't get rechromed last time that have been sent to Vinci Chrome in Malaga, along with a couple of bits that actually turned to shit from the last batch of parts that I had rechromed...

I've always seemed to have problems with the clutch since I rebuilt this motor, so I've bought a NOS clutch boss, complete Barnett clutch kit, NOS pushrods etc, hopefully I'll have no more dramas with it.
Should get stuck into that during the week as most of it rocked up in the mail today.

Few things to get blasted, few things to get painted, exhaust probably to get ceramic coated, some suspension stuff, electrical too - hopefully it turns out ok and is ready to be put on display again at the Jap Bike Show at the end of March.

I've got a container full of some genuine Yamaha parts already, and quite a few more parts should be arriving within the next couple of weeks, so I'll update this thread as the work happens!
