ZX2R - From Average to Awesome

My ZX2R has seen a heap of kms's lately, and 17 years of use from its owners (PSB and otherwise)

So ive decided its time for some TLC. Im giving it a full service, repairing and painting the fairings and getting a custom sticker job.

    Here's hoping it works!!

    * I've already removed the fairings, and cleaned the dirty/oil covered bits.

I was going to do the whole thing with degreaser and a pressure sprayer but thought that it might interfere with the plastic welding and painting.

Hey, you're back! We missed you.

Best of luck with the project. It's good to see somebody giving the 250 some loving. Might not be a great financial decision, but that will all be forgotten when you first sit on it when it's all shiny and the way you want it.

    ey barfy

i did consider the financial side, im a student ect but hey im not going nuts on it, i just want it to look nice and run better for me, and be reliable for the next person who has it.

service = oil, spark plugs, filter + $0 for labour(me)

Fairings = JME has offerd to take a look at the cracks and see if he can help, and painting will be done by the "friend of a friend" connection thing.

Sticker Job = Another "friend" job to see how well it works. if it looks tops and original painting works out well its back to the paint shop for a layer of clear to protect the stickers

    *Possible Stuff*

I have a mate who is a mechanic. He is a car mechanic but if he has the time and can be stuffed i was going to see if a carby clean and balance was possible.

Suspension. My bike settles about 3" to 4" when you sit on it and i feel like the forks dip a large amount when you brake into a turn. Im trying to get some more advice on this as to if its normal and them maybe look into getting it improved via Mary Moose as everyone has great things to say about him

I would definitely do this, and either clean or replace your air filter too.
Maybe flush some new fluid through the brakes, fresh coolant as well, get a hand to check the headstem bearings and wheel bearings etc.

Check your manual for any other periodic maintenance stuff, may as well go to town on it while you are inspired

    This one looked quite nice...

Ignore the fat bugger wallowing around Barbs on it though...
The universe likes speed. Don't delay. Don't second guess. Don't doubt. When the opportunity is there, when the impulse is there, when the intuitive nudge from within is there, act.

Do you have any idea who I am???

Are you trying to say that the brakes are worthy of creating brake dust?
