yeah just cut the grips off

clean up the bare metal so no grease ect, or the new grips wont stick

i hit the insides of the new grips with a light shot of spray paint which helps to slide them on and once it sets stops them slipping

    Or hairspray works pretty good.

^^^ this. Hairspray. It will actually provide lubrication so you can get them in place, until it dries and then they'll pretty much set in place.

If you REALLY wanna keep the old grips, I believe you can hit them with a heat gun. I've got one if you wanna borrow. Otherwise, get a blade and cut em off.

Funny you should say that... i put new grips on, cleaned up the clip ons/throttle tube... didn't have any hairspray, couldn't get the grips on dry... so i used some rp7, slid them on, and since drying they haven't moved either. I have lock wired them since then, I was always going to, but I would have thought the rp7 wouldn't have worked well.

Had a few ups and downs today.

was doing a few small things to the bike to prep for a few hours solid work tonight and was putting the tank on.I realised i had caught a fuel line under the bottom of the airbox when i bolted it back on.

Had work in 20 minutes so i went in to have a shower and my GF offered to take it all off again. When i came out 4 out of 8 bolts had snapped on the lower airbox where it was bolted around the carby inlets

    spewing

however ive sorted a "easy-out" kit and someone who knows how to use it so hopefully tommorow they will be removed. Then its off to bunnings/wreckers to find new bolts and several other bits and pieces that are broken/crappy or just look shit and i need new ones.

    More pics tommorow!

Use stainless bolts. They cost a fair bit more but don't rust and look the business.

3 snapped drill bits and one snapped easy-out and its all fixed

also the metal bracket in the front hugger was loose from the plastic and it rattled. Used epoxy in the spaces and on the edges, pretty sure that should hold.

Last week I decided to get some Stainless Socket head capscrews (allen key head) and washers.
Tried coventrys and found pricing was not that great.
A quick search on PSB came up with a recommentation for Stainless Fastener Supplies in Kewdale.
100 bolts and washers (only needed 15) under $40

Yeah they have pretty much everything.

Take in the bolts you need and see what they have.

If you get stuck let me know I have a wholesale account there.
