    Cheers

today have altered handle bars to accomidate new grips. The throttle side however is about 4mm too short. Is it ok to slice a small bit off the end of the plastic surround?

im assuming its the throttle, however im unsure of the importance of the plastic bit.

also i can hear some small things moving in the tank(sand/metal/??). I can't see a fuel filter anywhere on the line so im going to splice on in for safety/and the engine's sake.
(will this effect or slow the flow of fuel?)

ive also gone through about 6 cans of degreaser and a 2 "rags in bags" things from bunnings....so much stuff to polish!!

    WHEN WILL IT END!!!!

oh...and apparently my rear sprocket is silver...not black

Is the fuel filter a part of the fuel pump?

Can't beat a workshop manual though

It dosen't have a fuel pump. Gravity fed. The filter is just on the hose pipe that leads to the top of the carbs

fuel filter aside for now i bolted the tank on and started the bike.

Jabba told me the battery might be a bit flat so ive had it on charge for about 24 hours. 3rd try...STARTS!! woot!! no pipe on atm so its LOUD.

Now ive sprayed heaps of degreser around and replaced the oil. It hasnt been run in about 4-6 weeks. It goes fine for about 30 seconds then as the engine gets hot white smoke comes out of the engine area and you get a burning oil smell.

    normal?

oh it also is meant to idle at 2000rpm but its sitting on 4000rpm and wont drop down.

ive run it for about 2 mins tops in 2 seperate goes ( 1 min each time) if that helps

i havnt gone anything to the engine except new spark plugs, filter and oil.

...you just answered your own question. Try the idle screw if it's idling too high. Normally on the left hand side of the engine just under the tank.

with the idle speed did you try to adjust it with the adjuster knob? it should be connected to the throttle cable on the engine cover

if the filter is the red thing in the line from the top/middle of the carbs, my bike dosnt have one.

also i think the slides are a bit sticky....maybe if one is jammed open it would rev too high?

If you're going to show the little screamer some loving then I'd suggest getting fresh oil & seals in the suspension aswell.

Yes the red thing is the fuel filter. Can get them from kawasaki, while its not the exact one, being an import, they work fine and cost like 6 bux lol.

Sure the choke isn't getting stuck?

Well the project is finished. Spent all day yesterday putting it back together.

Looks fantastic. My "helper" also painted everything she could get her hands on.

Got all new bolts and the effect actually looked really cool.

    New grips were

took it for a ride with the G/F, runs mint, sounds great and looks the ducks nuts.

Decided to take it to my g/f place to show her dad as he has been a massive help during the project.

    Thats when Karma struck.
