    ZZR1100 v2.0

    Well it has started.

Bike got stripped yesterday thanks to the radiator going on Thursday night.

take the radiator to get checked on monday. if its not repairable it'll be a bit of a wait. ordering one from the states for under $300 delivered. beats $250 for a used one from a wrecker or $850 new from kawasaki.

next go through the panels... and see what needs fixing or replacing before paint. if i had $6000 burning a hole in my pocket id be ordering a full set of carbon panels from japan including a tank cover. but i dont... so paint it is. still making final decision on colour. but that partly depends what its going to cost for the radiator.

Maybe something two tone to break up the panel bulkiness... examples:

    i reckon:

    Gloss black.
    u.s zx-11 stickers.
(- corbin seat, high mount pipe, etc)

    e.g (colour)

    pipes
    (debaffled, ofcourse)

I'm a fan of matte bikes, but I don't think it suits the zzr.

Go the Gloss black, but add a tinted black double bubble...

As long as you don't stuff the finish, zzr's look mental pretty much any color/scheme

thanks Maxo. ive been trying to find a photo of a matt one for molnths and hadnt found anything. matt is now off the list.

Mikey, i already have a tinted db screen. that will probably be replaced with a new wind lip screen from eagle screens. suits the lines of the bike much better.

i love the corbin but i dont think ill like the price. ill look into that one.

when i find someone who can match the zzr12 blue and give me a price that will be decission made between blue or gloss black. unfortanately it all comes down to price. unless someone eklse wants to pay for it for me ;-)

the radiator got dropped off this morning so i should know around lunch if its repairable.

    good news / bad news...
good news. radiators been tested and flushed and is fine.
bad news. that means its probably the coolant hose behind the exhaust manifold. which looks like it needs to be removed to get the hose off

found the hole last night. it is the hose i thought. but its not the exhaust in the way. its the frame! looks like i need to drop the steel pipe under it to get access.
ordering silicone hoses from the uk now so they hopefully wont take to long. getting blue as black had to be specially made and would add 4 weeks to the wait.

just pissed it happened now that theres good riding weather. why couldnt it happen in the middle of winter?

that corbin seat looks amazing! changes the whole tone of the bike!

I think that a gloss colour instead of a standard kwaka colour is in order!

After many hours trawling the net in search of photos of ZZR's in different colours I have made a decision!

Gloss Black. I keep going back to it and finding more pics to look at and keep liking it.
    2008_07_21_bikepics-1360617-800.jpg
The Blue just doesnt work as well on the 1100 as it does on the 1200. I still think its a stunning colour. just not quite right on my bike.

Any onw know where chromes plastic? i want to re chrome the badges in shadow chrome

    ok no turning back now.
Bought the painht last week and i started preping the panels yesterday.
about 8 hours of sanding later im about 1/2 way thru... that is untill i prime them and check for any more imperfections.

smoothed the mirrors out completely including taking the wrining off the bottom of them.took ages but will be well worth it once painted.

In doing the mirrors though i now need to find someone who can cut replacement mirrors as the old ones snapped taking them out of the housing.
anyone know where i might get some custom cut?

chased up my hoses yesterday they should be leaving the uk today hopefully so i should have them by the end of the week.

also carbon wrapped the instrument cluster surround/fairing inner. not completely happy with it so ill see if i keep it as is, start again or just paint them again. the curves are very complex thru the top edge which is where its gone to shit. need to see it on the bike though to see if its even noticable before i do anything with it

There's a place in Canning Vale (Walsh's) I think that should be able to do a custom cut for your mirrors.

Not sure if they need an original to work off though.

    Maybe give them a call.
